Well, the ARCA boys already had the big one, lap 11!!!!
20 laps to go and 8 out of the top 10 have never won and ARCA race!!!!
and some young guy took his "Welcome to Taladega" ride---flipped 6 1/2 times, knocked the engine and tranny nearly out of the car, then walked to the ambulance!!!! Another testimonial to improved safety in circle burnin'!!!!
Brandon McReynolds, Larry McReynold's kid, won the dang thing with some good help on the last lap coming out of turn #4!!! Smart racing for a bunch of yound kids!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, that was quite the wreck! Glad to hear he was treated and released. We got some family who came into town.. hope I get some time to see the big race!
I saw some interviews last night and there was some discussion of the current body package being a throwback to a few years back in on track feel. One interview with Gordon was particularly interesting. He has the most wins there of current drivers and they were asking him why. He said some of the usual things but then acknowledged that he learned all that he needed to know about driving there with restrictor plates from the senior Earnhardt. More than a decade after he dies he's still out there in a way.
I know most of you guys are still "Intimidator" haters, but his drive from mid pack to win in just a handful of laps at the 2000 'dega race was pure mastery.
One of the most often mentioned things about Dale Sr. was that he could "see" the air.... A lot of his dominance and championships came from recognizing what the air was doing and where he needed to be to take advantage of it!!!! To me he was another of those racers that you didn't have to like him to appreciate his abilities in a Stock Car!!!!
I'd kind of forgotten about it, then I caught a late night re-run of the 2000 race, probably the most phenomenal driving exhibition ever on a Superspeedway.
Yeah-LOL-Danica got a lick on at the end.
You guys kept talking about the 2000 Taladega finish so much I had to see if I could find it - 17th to win in 4 laps!! Amazing! 2000 Talladega Win - YouTube
That to me was THE RACE that defines plate racing....and people say it's nothing but follow the leader!!!! Still the best 4 laps in NASCAR racing I've ever seen!!!!!
Dave today I was debating with myself if I was going to hangout and watch the race or go to the shop to do more work on Rufus.Well given the kind of racing I am going to the shop.Drafting??.For sure that is what I know as NASCAR.Pushing??.What has occurred to me is the teams are forced to do this kind of racing because they are covering for what I think is a poorly designed car by NASCAR.
The last laps exciting??.Oh yeah they where!!!.But then how about the rest of the race??.Well that's just me Bud.I hope everyone racing walks away ok today and no one gets hurt.
Half way through the race, Kenseth and Smoke both have very strong cars! The Dodge Boys are up there again today, Penske definitely found some new horsepower!!!! Now it's time to stay out of trouble, take care of the car, and be ready for the insanity of the last 50 or so laps!!!!!!
I jumped on with 11 laps to go and it's nothin' but yellows! Cannot even get 1 lap under green and we lose like 10 cars!
