This has to be one of the worst accidents I have ever seen.

.I have seen alot of scary stuff in my 30 years of driving a Big Rig over the road.
But this has to be one of the worst accidents I have ever seen.
Nothing you can do but hold on and prey for the best.
This is where nightmares came from!!!!

That was awful! Not Donner Pass, though, Donner has wide, different level medians most of the way, and K-walls or barriers and fences on the rest, and it is much more curvy and winding than that area.

Over corrected, that was a load of plastic flying around. These cars maybe lighter cause of the plastic but they sure are not as strong, thus the explosion. Pretty amazing the fuel tank did not go up, the guy never knew what happened. That is probably a good thing, lights on ... lights out, RIP. The guy driving the box truck made a nice recovery, otherwise he'd taken out the car.

I think your right Rrumbler, It didn't look like Donner pass to me either.
Looks more like Flagstaff on the west end.

I would put my money on it being in another country, not the USA, for several reasons. The NHTSA would require some type of barrier to separate the opposing traffic especially in an area subject to snow and ice conditions and if you stop the video and look at the other vehicles, especially the first semi truck that passes by, they don't look American. JMO

You could be right Mike, that car carrier or parking lot as we like to call them looks odd.
But up on Flaggstaff there are a few place's like that with no barrier.
Can't really see any plates so who knows.
We have been getting this tanker over here at a shell station thats gotta be from somewhere else.
Next time I see it I will try to get a photo, it has two sets of steer tires in the front. weird looking.

Not from somewhere else, Kurt, just one of the several "Super" variants around Las Vegas. That one is probably one of two that Williams Tank Lines bought a couple of years ago from a carrier that either went under or sold off a bunch of units; there are several like that around, with Williams, Rebel, Haycock, KAG, and a couple of other haulers. They are just a bigger variant, having a larger tank, thus the second steer axle; most "Super Tankers" have a 5400 gal. truck tank on a regular chassis, and pull a four axle 8000 (+/-) trailer. Then, there are the "Trains"; a semi of around 9200, sometimes even more, two or three axles, plus a trailer (pup) of around 5400 to 8000 with two to four axles; they run these thing mostly between here and Salt Lake City, and in northern Nevada and all over Utah. When my son had his own truck, he was running trains that way, and drove "Supers" for both Williams, and KAG. The gas hauling business here is really rough, though, and he couldn't make a decent living, so he went on the road in a walk away lease with Prime, hauling refers; tripled his take home pay.

Pretty bad for the driver of the disintigrated vehicle. There are places along hiway 50 going up to Tahoe with no divider between opossite directions of traffic, my mom got hit head on there, by a drunk who was speeding in a 67 caddy, she was driving our 69 mustang. Lucky to have survived that day!

We got that e mail a few weeks back..Still looks as ugly as it did first time round..Not pretty at all..Hope it was quick for the guy.. All our new Western Stars,and a lot of the other rigs down here have been running twin steer for a few years now..Looked real strange to see that setup on an American truck,at first,cos we are used to seeing the Jap trucks setup like that..but not a W/Star..

Hey Guys and Rrumbler; I have seen the super tankers they are running up here in Nevada and Utah.
They is only one private company that runs doubles in tankers down in Florida that comes to mind.
That type of truck {with Double steer axles} I have only seen on the internet before, this is the first
one I have seen in person. I have a CDL that allows me to drive Singles doubles and triples, but in the
30 years of driving and training other drivers I never worked for a company that allowed us to pull doubles.
Florida does not allow triples to be pulled on thier highways down there either.
We or I pulled the long tanker's that were capable of holding about 9200 gallons, but we could only
carry 7,500 gallons of diesel fuel and or 8,700 gallons of gasoline at one time. That's 80,000 lbs per load.
I have seen tons of guys that have leased from Prime walk away, most of them were also dispatched by Prime.
And when the guys got close to paying off there truck, the dispatches either gave them load that didn't pay much
or slowed, thier dispatches making them sit for days with out a paying load. Then the guys can not afford thier bills
or the payments on thier trucks. I have seen it time and time again with them.
