It's officially winter

Welcome to the 1st day of winter, and also the day of the year with the shortest time between dawn and dusk---starting tomorrow we have more daylight time then the day before. Well, in this hemisphere anyway!!!

Today was nice, mid 30's and a few snow flurries-nothing at all like last winter when it was so brutally cold and we had snow ------ deep to a tall giraffe!!! Just curious if others are having as mild a winter (so far) as we are up here?

(Members from Florida and Arizona may now chuckle!!!!!)

I've still gotten unfinished projects from last winter!!!!

close to 70 in bama today .. yeah the winter soltice is always a welcome site to me .. the days will start getting longer from now on .. i think we will survive it .. nhra will start back up in 50 days or so ..

In the fifties here today, cold in the low 30's high 20's at night. A cold winter, but very dry for us Dave. This is usually our wet season!

It is in the 90 s today and 100 tomorrow it is our summer and 2 days before christmas so marry Christmas and a happy new year

Expected 76 on the beach today, high of 70 with 30% chance of rain on Christmas....

If the weatherman gives the chance of rain at less that 50%, does that mean there is less chance of rain than normal???:whacked:

Oh well, seems like all of the responders do not have to deal with "snow ------ deep to a tall giraffe!!!" this year!!!

But the early drop of acorns was supposed to mean a hard winter...I thought**)

I'm just a bit downstream of you in the winter blast category (nothing between us & the north pole but a barbed wire fence that's down;) ), but so far we've had it pretty easy. Headed to 37F today, and mid-40's over the weekend! Not bad for December.:)

Well, luckily there are some trees and hills between us! We're supposed to get to 50, 51 degrees today! And with the price of fuel oil.. I am NOT complaining!

Yeah, I just don't know where all this stuff keeps coming from....by the time I get one done and gone two more have replaced it!

Drove an hour south of Tigard today to Grand Ronde, Oregon and watched the temperature move from 32 to 21 degrees. Brrrr. Supposed to be in the 30's tonight but no snow or other measurable moisture until Saturday..

I'm okay with cold as long as there's no wind - just cuts through me anymore. I really like Mesa, Phoenix, Palm Springs, etc this time of year!

lets just say i wish i had waited for the snow to fly before i bought a new skidoo. lol lesson learnt!!

Generally I judge winter's arrival by when the swamp in the back 40 freezes as well as the reservoir I pass on the way to the dump. Neither even have shoreline anchor ice. It rained last night and the temps are in the 40's today with tomorrow predicted the coolest by the two weather sites I look at with the next 10 days in the high 30s to low 40s. Sure makes me happy that a bum knee made me quit skiing a few years ago - and the $$$ it hasn't cost. Even my lawn could stand mowing as it's still green and growing:eek:

I do have both of the snow blowers ready to roar, just in case and the 4x4 capabilities on my truck checked out .............. ;-}

22 degrees this morning in Nor Cal...warmed up to 52, finally about 3:00 pm, then again downhill, no snow to speak of in the mtns...they got more in New mexico, than we have all year.:LOL:
