That every thread I open starts with the original post! No matter what page I'm on it has the original post at the top!:eek:
Was this caused by the "Garage"? Is this happening to you guys also?

iv`e always had a hard time finding the last post in my thread ..
Mike, I noticed the same thing on a multi-page post - when on the second or third page it listed the initial post at the top, then started with the new "answer". Very confusing, but I thought it was just a fluke. Just noticed it this morning.
The place I noticed it was Falcon's 49MoreDoor thread - clicked on the last page, and it came up with his initial post, with pictures, followed by his update on wheels, etc. Like I said, very confusing why it changed?? Gremlins!
I have the same problem every time it goes to post #1 it started last night I GUESS IF TOU CAN'T MAKE THE FORUM WORK RIGHT YOU CAN SPEND YOUR TIME ADDING STUPID SHIT LIKE THE GARAGE THAT DOESN'T WORK EITHER THATS THE REASON SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE DROPPED OUT AND DON'T POST ANY MORE ...TED
Mike, I see what Randy's talking about - if the thread has been updated it appears bold, but there's a round blue dot beside the name with a couple of downward arrows in it. If you hover the mouse over that dot it says "Go to first new post" or something like that, and it skips going to the initiating entry. Must be a new feature, Brent?
I guess I don't care:eek: Or I just don't have that problem. Whatever I need to do, I can usually figure out where I am on a particular thread. That Garage Forum - it wouldn't work after several attempts after Bill told me where to go (often:o) - and I don't care:rolleyes::rolleyes: Brent will figure it out, then I'll add mine:D
Maybe it's just there so people can read the initial post, check the date of the post, and respond to the original question??? Some threads get so sidetracked by the time it's got about a dozen entries the original question is being totally ignored!!!!
I think the admin likes to keep us on our toes.....:whacked::HMMM:
As far as the first post of the thread being the first post on each page....It is a feature that is quite useful, but I can see how this could cause some confusion. The benefit is that no matter which page you're on in a thread you'll be able to quickly see the context of the discussion.
Let me know if you think I should disable it or not.
Hoss, look back at response #8.
Brent,
I don't really see much value added, but I think the bigger problem is that the new "feature" surprised everyone and created some confusion. A brief thread from you or Bill explaining that a new feature had been added, asking for feedback would have eliminated the whole thing, IMO.
I think you should take the site back to where it used to be---
That has been my default view since the site was started at least that is how mine has been set up since this forum went active.......
However, under your profile,on the left (your alternate right :D ) side is a link marked "General Settings", click it, then scroll down to "Thread Display Options", click on the first drop down and you can choose which way you want to view the threads.
So simple, even the most jaded of naysayers (no,not you) can do it with ease :D
Bill S.
Yeah Bill, but if I have General Settings set to "Display Oldest First" (to put them in chronological order) now I get the first post out of sequence, followed by the newest addition. That is, unless I use Randy's (TechnoWizard's) "blue dot" tip to go straight to the newest information. Now if we can get that blue dot to be an oval..... BTW, Brent acknowledged that he changed the way things display, (reply #17 above, and in his PM reply to me he said that he had just made the change in the past few days).
Been going on here since Thursday or Friday when ever the garage showed up. we lost the 3 word story also
Been out of town for the weekend,,and when we got home tonight, went in for my fix,and found the first post on the three word story..Wondered what was going on...:confused: Just a little confusing,,but like a lot of other things,,I suppose I will get used to it,,even though I dont like it..
Well, judging by the number of respondents and their replys, and judging by the mod's telling us it was an option they turned on for testing...
I'd say this test was a dud!
Hopefully, the mods will hear their audience and put it back!:3dSMILE:
And yes, Mr. Moderator, us old farts aren't happy with surprises! Perhaps a little notice next time if it isn't to much to ask!:3dSMILE:
signed, the peanut gallery!:D
Guess I have to be a bit contrary with the rest.... I like the post of the original thread at the top of the page!!! People will then remember what the original post was about and what the original poster's questions are or it's intent and maybe posts won't get all sidetracked, hijacked, and cluttered up with junk that has no relevance to the purpose of the thread.....
I'm a little late to the party. But a little communication and advanced warning for the users from the mods and/or admin would help most of us with the shock of change.
