Ok, the weekend starts tonight!!!! Watch out for all the idiots on the road this weekend, and remember all the little kids will be out of town on the little roads doing their fireworks thing!!! Also gonna be a lot of drunks on the road, so watch for them! If you choose to indulge in the adult beverages, be sure to designate a driver before you had out for the parties!
And most importantly:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA
-
I have a full day of running here & there doing sign work, but I'll be off the road by 7pm. Saturday/Saturday night I hope to be reclused in the shop workin' on the "Z". Sunday church & spending time with the kids, Monday back to the "Z". so, they will have to drive purdy' crazy to get me.
Of course at any time this schedule could change or be changed for me. If that's the case and I have to wonder out on the public roads, I'll keep an eye out for revelers.
I'll also keep watch for errant fireworks landing on the property (that's been a problem in past years) but with all the rain we've been having that risk will be minimal this year.
Have a good 4th Dave & everybody, God Bless America.

going to the car show sat but will be there at noon. just want to see the 57 vette again and see how it shows under the lights. will have my butt back on the farm before dark . drunks are one thing but drunks in 1 tons are a whole new game .

What was shaping up to be a relatively quiet weekend got spun out of control last night: bestest friend from California called and said their 33yo son decided to make a quick run to "Vegas" to get his butt hitched; why, is beyond my ken, but since we are the "destination" folks, we get to get into the middle of it all. Can't quite say uh-uh, no thanks, 'cause we've known the kid since he was three, and he sort of considers us as family.**)**):whacked:

I picked up 25 pounds of ribs yesterday and will be smokin' a batch come Sunday for for a few folks coming over after church. Potluck kind of thing where Joanie and I supply the meat and everyone else brings side and desserts. We typically have twice as much food as we need but sure is good!!
Might throw some horse shoes with a few of the guys so we can pretend we "exercised" enough to justify all the food!
As to fireworks - I'm with Shine. Few years back we had had a neighbor buy heaven-only-knows how much in illegal fireworks - the ones that launch out of a mortar tube. We had a dry year and the field next to our house looks like a dry bowl of rice krispies and this idiot starts launching his big artillery style "entertainment". I'll admit they were very pretty, but I was tighter than a tick's tourniquet as I was scared to death he'd start the place on fire. Sure enough - about half hour into his show (and probably several cases of Budweiser) I heard an "oh s*&!" and saw one of those big bastards coming horizontal through the field. I had hoses on and ready and my wife called 911. The thing exploded about 20 yards from my house and rained sparks everywhere. Miraculously, little fire resulted and we stomped everything out as we heard the sirens approaching. The fire department took the rest of his stuff and issued him a citation for $10,000. He was very upset - so much so that the FD called the sheriff and they hauled the neighbor and several of his buddies off to jail. All said and done - his fine was reduced to $2,500 and he was given a huge community service detail pumping outhouses for the county parks. We didn't speak much before the incident and never afterword although his wife came over and apologized profusely.
In spite of all we're going through as a country and the sorry state of our elected officials at the local and national level - there's still no place I'd rather be than the United States of America. Stand proud people! Do right things and keep encouraging your kids and grand kids to make good decisions, be honest and stay pure!
Blessings All,
Glenn

The rest of your story makes me cringe..darn fireworks are ok when sensible folk are using them, but there seems to be less of them around..And as far as drunks on the road,,well,I have seen what your cops do up there,,and i for one am darn sure I wouldnt want to cross them.. Anyway, all you guys[and gals] enjoy yourselves this weekend,,and stay safe,,And,of course,,HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA..

We watched the ceremony at 8th&I (Marine Corps Barracks) last night and the silent drill team is very impressive and more brass than I've seen in ages. Took the White House tour today and then took in a couple of the museums and there is just so much to see and not really enough time. Whoever laid the streets out here in the Capitol must have been drunk.

Supposed to meet the Wiffy's 2 sons at a Machine Gun Shoot today. Hopefully they will have tanks, bazookas and mortars show up as they have sometimes in the past.
Of course Old Glory will be proudly waving and the Pit will be smoking something but I haven't decided just what yet.
I pray that everyone has a fun and safe Holiday Weekend and remembers that "Independence Day" isn't JUST ABOUT the Founding Fathers, it is also about our Troops and Veterans.
"God Bless"

Have Saturday and Sunday off, will probably hit the beach with the doggies Sunday, do a barbeque today, and work Monday. Need to get back to the truck, and would like a nice spin on the road in the rag top!
I like Glenn's plans(ribs.....Yummmmmm), don't know of any local rod shows around here, but that sounds like big time fun Dave.

I don't have anything special planned for the 4th. Tomorrow night (the 3rd) I am having dinner with my Sons.............that is always nice. Maybe I'll blow some of the dust off of the 27 and go cruising around on Monday.............or maybe I'll just take a long nap. :) Nice thing about being retired, every day is a holiday. :D

BB'Q seems to be the trend on these special Holidays. My daughter is coming over the Boys have other things to do.
Cooking out is a pain at our house, the daughter eats chicken only, one son beef only and his girl friend is a vegeterian the other son what ever, my wife is always dieting and I am type 2 diabetic.
As stated earlier it's about the freedom we enjoy and the ones that are making it possible. We still have the best to enjoy in the USA even though sometimes we complain about the way things are going, I suppose we ought to be more thankful for what we do have.
I got " OLD Glory" out this morning and 7 ete bitey ones out around the yard.
