    shifter lever adapter question

I am missing on my tranny the U shaped piece of steel that connects my shifter rod to the tranny. i do not know what this is called or where to order one. it is for my 71 monte to hook it up to a 400r. if someone could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it thanks so much.

if you can't find one, I've had to make one in the past.
It's annoying and takes alot of holes drilled to get the throw right and get it in all the gears.

    Best of luck,
    Drew

    Barb,
If you have a good independent tranny shop nearby they may be able to fix you up, either with one from a junker, or getting you a new link. Just a thought.

Good suggestion Roger. Most of the shops usually have a pile of builder/parts trannys around. I happened to go by the shop I deal with today and scored a gutted 518 case for mockup (but that's a different story).

Barb good to see you're back at it.

Barb, I am no tranny man but I have always heard and referred to the u-shaped piece as a clevis. When I changed my '55 over to disc brakes we had to fab several pieces of linkage. Here's a website that shows the stuff that we used. Don't forget the advantages of the all-thread bolt for adjusting features. Good Luck and when you get thru PICS ARE REQUIRED OK?

Barb, if for some reason you don't get the answer here, Highpoint Transmissions that has that ad sells tons of stuff on Ebay. I would send them an email and ask what part number you need, it looks like they speicalize in hard to find stuff.

    Just a thought.
