I'm heading down to Daytona Beach next week for a short vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions for anything 'automotive' going on in the north-east part of the state? (Other than the Rolex 24 hr of course.)

The NASCAR Museum is next to the track at Daytona USA and the Don Garlits Museum is west of there in Ocala, Florida.
I have never been to Florida so I am just passing along things that I have been told incase I should ever get outa Texas headed East.
Thanks Lamin8r, but I think they live in the Fort Meyers area which is the south-west part of the state. And I'm sure you would never "stir."
Thanks also Mello those sound like they would be worth seeing.
the Don Garlits Museum is just a little sw of Daytona
Lots of excellant places to eat near Daytona
Jerry is right, Garlit's Museum is a good place for a lot of history...and fast cars!

Don't know how long you will be down, but if you are down for the weekend, check this site to see if any shows are going on around you.

Hope you have a great visit, kind of cold lately so be sure to bring down a jacket!
Thanks Jerry, Surfer and Mike. Looks like the Garlits museum is a bit less than 2 hours away so definitely worth a look if I can fit it in. And thanks for the car show link, Surfer....certainly some good possiblities there.
Oh, and Surfer.....I'm coming from Canada so even your cool weather will be an improvement for me.:D
On each Friday and Saturday Night, there's Cruiz In's in Old Town (Kissimmee), about 1 mile East of I-4 on Irlo Bronson Highway. The Saturday runs are limited to '74 and older, Friday night is open. Should take you about an hour and a half to two hours from Daytona, straight West on I-4. It's a real good show, lots to do, plus your just outside of Orlando. At the end of the night they have a "parade" or a cruiz over the bricks - a good time. D
Thanks Dwayne, sounds great. Now I have some planning to do.
In that case Resto, I've got an extra longboard and spring suit for ya!:toocool:
Hope you have a great visit, Wx for DAB Monday is high of 70, low of 52:)
I wish I could give you some ideas, but we are clear on the other coast and south. Here is a link to a rod-oriented newpaper that has all the cruise info for that area. If you can't find something in here, there is a phone number that you can call and probably get some help.

Thanks guys. Leaving early tomorrow morning so now I have something to see other than palm trees & beach.....not that they are a bad thing this time of year.:D
If Don is in the museum tell em that I said Hi.
Don't know exactly where Oviedo is but I just ran across it and it seems to be happening this Saturday the 22nd
I just looked it up on Mapquest and it is in the Daytona Area and sounds right down your alley.

There is also an Antique Motorcycle Event going on the next weekend down around the Ft. Lauderdale Area but that might be too far and you might not be staying that long.
Here's the link anyhow.
