My fiance' asked me the other day if I had a choice between my love for my 63 1/2 Comet (not counting the money spent or work I put into it) or the Browns winning the super bowl and leaving with no team to take its place forever what would I choose? I could not answer because I didn't know what to pick, I am a die hard Browns fan win or lose but I also love my Comet. What would you guys choose, Your favorite sports team or your hotrod (Not counting the time and money you put into the car)?
I was born and raised in Ohio, I would love to see the Browns have a tiltle, heck any Professional Ohio Sports Team bring home a title. The Fans of Ohio are die hard and super loyal. I hope someday they will get the title they have been longing for. I wouldn't be able to make that choice either. I guess for the greater good....? Go Buckeys!

Easy...I would stay with our cars...I dont have a favorite sports team,although I have been known to watch the All Blacks,our national rugby team,I have never put them ahead of any other interest I have had in the past,for various reasons...
I guess when you are brought up surrounded by the cars dad had at home,to repair for people,and getting in and helping him strip engines,from the age of about 8 or 9,[that is,until I lost too many bits]:LOL:,that is ingrained a little...:rolleyes:
When I was growing up there were the sports jocks and the gear heads. Guess which group I hung out with? :D:D I like seeing the Steelers play, but they take a back seat to my hot rodding.

A big chunk of the sports type guys I knew were total FLOGGERS,,so I didnt want to be seen with them anyway,,the choice was easy...even in the last 20 years...:D
There was a time when this would have been an easy question to answer. I was a true Football fan and would do what ever to watch those games on Sunday. Then Pro Football changed, it became a "ME" "ME" sport. Not a single one of those idiots could score a touchdown or even make a tackle with out doing there little chicken dance while screaming "Look what "I" did'!!!! Look at me !!! That now has moved over to College Football, lat week I was embarrassed by all of the Individual chest pounding done by some of the Auburn players, and by Individual thats exactly what I mean, those clowns don't need any one else around them to celebrate there Watch Me attitude. Its sad really what these sports have turned into. I sign of the times I guess.....

i've never been a spectator . dont watch football or any other sport. i dont even watch nascar .first love was cars and guitars still is. although the guitar hasn't been out of the case in many years.
What are "sports teams"??
i use to know several NBA & NFL players personally and i followed them some back then but not any more .. now it`s just roll tide and burn rubber ..
I’m with Roland – pro football has become a sport of “all about me” and there seems to be way too much money in all pro sports. Greg Oden has made 13 million dollars for 82 games with the Trail Blazers and he’s out for this season before ever taking the floor. Brendan Roy has an 80 million dollar contract with four more years and is questionable for the rest of this season. I dunno – seems like an awful lot of money yet there are those who pay $1,100 for courtside to watch Kobe Bryant play..
I do enjoy college football as these boys really play with heart and soul fully aware that most will never be given an opportunity to go on to pro ball. When I watch the Rogers brothers play for Oregon State it renews my faith about kids still being able to really work hard and embrace values that will last them for a life time. I know there are problems at the college level as well, but I certainly find college ball a lot more enjoyable and with Oregon being the number one team in the country everyone here has become a Duck fan!
Long term – I’m still stickin’ with the cars – maybe because it’s a sport that we can all enjoy regardless of our natural physical abilities. Just look at this site – we’ve got everything from $100K ultra show cars to thousand dollar rats. We’ve got young people all the way to octogenarians that contribute. We’ve got regular guys and beautiful gals (that would be you, Barb) and we all enjoy our rides and look forward to the next time we can work on them. I get excited every time I get to pop a hood and see what someone’s runnin’ – be it a big block crate or a four banger with dual Webers. I’m looking forward to someday visiting Pat and just looking at his handiwork as I consider him to be in the same league as Smokey or Al Unser or Big Daddy Don. If it has to do with cars its all good…..
My vote is hot roddin’ hands down….

I love Texas Football, in all genres but my '55 would come before any sports team. However, if the fiance gave me an ultimatum then I would dump her and keep the car and the sports team.
i thought about my question all day at work and came to the conclusion that I would not trade my car for the sports team even though I'm a die hard Browns fan. Their is just something about driving down the road with the windows down, the motor roaring its a feeling that runs deep inside me and I just can't explain it. Good thing it was only a question because I don't want to get rid of either one. Go Browns...woof woof woof.
I would rather mow the yard than get wrapped up in a sports contest. At least I would be accomplishing something. I like to look back at the end of each day and see something accomplished. IMHO
Sports??? I love sports!!! The Brooklyn Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are my favorite teams, watch them whenever I'm not busy in the garage......
I sure do like watching the Arkansas Razorbacks play football but I Am sorry ,the hogs would have to go(and my 32 ford is not even finished). WOOOOOSOOWIE PIGS. :LOL:

I found when gave up alchohol 18 years ago I lost interest in watching sports with it. Count me in on my hotrods for entertainment year round.

I notice that you have your location as, Corinth, we also live in a little settlement called Corinth, between Centerville and Buffalo - - - - any chance that we are neighbors. My Wiffy is a Razorback also - born in Dumas, Ark and her sister can almost see Razorback Stadium from the top floor of their home. Right now they are handling LSU pretty convincingly.Quote:

OK, not neighbors but I do know what Dumas, Texas is. I still can't convince the WIffy that "Ding Dong Daddy Days" were originated in Dumas, Texas not Dumas, Ark.
Ah yes the Ding Dong Daddy of Dumas. Small world as I lived there back in the 80's and worked at the Diamond Shamrock plant while I was there.
