Barn find
Howdy guys I haven't been on here much been working on my 73 Nova, but a friend of mine seen the 57 chevy front clip I put together for church and asked if I'd be interested in a 67 GTO free for the hauling. I caught my breath and said YES. 389 tri power his&her shifter convertable. Now don't go getting excited the frame is rusted away and not to sure how I'm going to get it on my trailer. Lots of spare parts go with it.

Any 64-67 "A" body convertible frame will work and 67 GTO's are among the most desireable.

I wouldnt take a car with the frame rusted out. But I will go pick it up just to get rid of it. LOL Sounds like a sweet find.

Good find! I would think Art Morrison or someone like that may supply a frame for it or send you in the right direction.

The rear view looks like a 67, but to my knowledge the only engine available in 67 was the four barrel version, GM had put a ban on tripower cars except for the Vette in 67. I had two 66's, one a tripower coupe and the other a four barrel convertible. I also think the 389 ended in 66, so yours should be a 400 ci.
Did the engine come with it? You can take the vin and decode it to see what is original to that car.............great score in any event.

that frame really must be gone...the front fenders are sticking up in the air :eek: The frame on my dad's GTO is solid and he lived in NJ and drove it up all over New England skiing! :HMMM:

All I know about it is what I was told but there is a tri power set up under the hood.engine size ????? If the werather holds out I'll try getting it home Tue. Then I can go over it to see what it realy is.

Roger, anything is possible. It could be a very early 67 that somehow snuck out before they stopped putting trips on them, or, during it's 43 years on earth some car nut may have found a tripower engine or carb setup and installed it. If cars could talk I bet there would be some interesting stories.
If, when you get the car you determine it is just too far gone to save, there are lots of parts there to keep other GTO's alive. I would also keep that engine and transmission for a hot rod. We were just talking about that the other night and Dan asked me why you don't see many Pontiac engines in rods.............there is no good reason, they are fantastic engines and look great, especially with 3 deuces sitting on top. :D
If you score a title with it that would be worth good money too, to some restorer. You fell into a good deal, Roger........free is good, espeicially on a Goat. :D

There were a couple different vendors at the SEMA show offering complete frames for A-body GM cars of that vintage so I know there are some to be had.

You are right about Pontiacs in rods. Besides my own I have seen only 2 or 3 in the last 40+ years and those I have seen have only been in the last 3 years.
