Thread: More 94 Ford pickup problems

A few weeks ago I had problems with my fuel pump, got it fixed. After monkeying around with that the gas tank started leaking, put a new one in, went to start it up and AGAIN the fuel pump failed..... easy fix, just crawled under it and pulled the plug on the electrical and put it back in while wiggling it.... fix it. Now after driving all over the place and even filling the gas totally up it failed me again, luckly at my son's place.

This time the starter wouldn't kick in to turn the engine over, the starter just spun over. I turned OFF the key and pulled it out Yet the starter kept on spinning???????? What gives????????

The starter is about six months old (now has a lifetime warranty), the solenoid which is on the inner fender is the same age. OK you Ford mechanics what's wrong? The bendix? My son says pull the starter and get another new one, I think it's the the solenoid because jumping the terminals kicks the starter in and starts the truck. But why does it keep spinning over with the key out?

I've had starter solenoids stick and do that????? or maybe the ignition switch is stuck internally?????

Ya I think I'll put a different soleniod on it first, got a 89 pickup all ready to junk out so it won't cost me anything. I'm REALLY getting sick of all the New China Replacement Junk that sold now days.

I'm coming out your way this Friday for Pheasant hunting, is the corn out yet?

Not even close, Tom... too much rain, moisture on the corn still around 25, most guys just finally getting beans done!!!!!

I switched solenoids, same problem. Went and got a new starter, put it in, started it, worked just fine. Shut it off and tried again and only click click click. Pulled the starter, hooked it up to a battery and nothing. Took it back to Advanced Auto, they tried it and it worked??????????????
I'm almost ready to go buy a Chev or Dodge.

Come on Ford mechanics what's the cure?

Didn't Ford switch solenoid types in '94? Seems to me that '94 was a transition year for the solenoid, but not sure. I know it is too basic, but how is your battery, and assuming it is good, how are your ground connections? Grasping at straws, here.

When there's a spark at the positive terminal, means something is putting a draw on the battery, Tom..... radio memory, or something else wired direct to a battery circuit and bypassing the ignition switch.,... but the spark for that would be very small and barely noticeable......
