Wow.. I have this lump in my throat and want to hug my wife, kids and grand kids.
I followed a lady on my way home tonight that was weaving and nearly clipped on coming traffic. When I pulled next to her at a light to turn left, sure enough she was on the phone laughing and carrying on - oblivious to the world around her..
Thanks for sharing this - if it wakes up just one person, then it's well worth the horrible feeling one gets while watching..

I saw this last night and it made me really want to show my kids. I also found this second video while researching this subject. It really hit close to me because my daughter is going to college in Logan.

I don't text at all, period. It's just easier to talk!!!
Hits close to home for me because My wife had wrecked my 2007 Pickup on Monday because her purse fell on the floor. She went to pick it up. She is o.k. but could have been much worse.

Hell I can't even text correctly sitting still let alone while driving 80 mph.:LOL::LOL:
But I know several people who do text while driving. They have it down so much they don't even take their eyes off of the road. Guess they don't care what words they send.:LOL: I have attempted to get them to stop, but I guess I am just the old fuddy duddy that they say I am. Hopefully I won't be their pall bearer.:eek:
I have done in the past,until I nearly rear ended someone,,just a simple yup,or, OK,sent off in reply,but the near miss woke me up,,but in saying that,many people I know have had a close call,and still do it..Nothing like following a car thats weaving all over the road,the driver is either drunk or texting,nowadays they seem to be texting,or talking.I always pull over now to answer the phone,or if my wife is with me,she answers it.
New Zealand government has finally passed a law prohibiting the use ofcellphones while driving,but doesnt come into effect for a few months yet,,meanwhile the carnage will go on..I just dont want to be on the receiving end of it.:(
Sent chills up my back. I know that feeling all too well of getting knocked into a uncontrolled spin, slamming into the K-rail, kissing off of that and coming to a rest broadside to 70 MPH traffic coming right at me .... luckily I was able to do some "creative" driving to get to the side of the road and avoid the second impact.
To answer the question .... no, I dont text while driving
Heck, I dont even text while sitting in a chair at home.....
Every day it seems that we all come across people who are in control of an automobile that appear that their driving is secondary to something else....texting, talking on the phone, eating, reading, putting makeup on (hopefully women only), yelling at the kids, arguing with the spouse, shaving (hopefully men only), drinking, smoking, writing notes, mastu.....oops dont want to see that!!
I wonder how many accidents actually involve drivers who have an attention lapse...I would bet that it is a much higher percentage than is recorded.

I almost killed a woman a couple years ago, who turned right in front of my RV when I was running 55MPH. I had to slam on the brakes as hard as I could ....and she still never even saw me! ...and I heard it's 8X more likely to have an accident when texting, as compared to talking on the phone.
Saw the video. Chilling.... I have two grand daughters getting ready to drive. I don't text. Seems like a waste of time, faster to call. I'm an old man.
WOW ....... that was a chilling reminder as to how fragile our little worlds are.

I have 17 yr. old just getting behind the wheel ........ NO cell phone allowed. He will not be able to text because like my self .... he can get a cell phone when he can pay the bills on one. He is a bit lazy (unlike me) so I'm sure he won't be getting one soon.
I do not text while driving .... my fingers are to big to do it sitting in a chair let alone driving done the road.

And just think, one by one various states are passing laws regarding talking on cell phones and/or texting. Common sense is a slow process.
I don't think passing a law is gonna help, people know what's right or wrong now, making another law won't change much. Look at all the gun laws, heck, it's even one of the commandments, people still kill in anger. Our history proves one thing, we'll do what we want and when. No law(s) will change that.Quote:
