And I have a newly painted car:D... it's probably a 20 footer now, but I plan to redo the bodywork correctly in a couple of years anyway.... it's been sitting for too long, and I just wanna drive it now..... still made it look decent, even with the un- ideal paintiing conditions..
next, I get to do the interior, put on the emblems, new exhaust, and get the brakes back up to snuff ( M/C needs bled ).. and hit the road... hopefully by mid august, I'll be driving it.

My camera did that... it's really more of a grape purple color.... just now every picture I take of it, it'll look like I have a pink car:LOL:Quote:

oh, and as for the equipment I used.... $30 Campbell hausfeild gravity feed paint sprayer, 120' of 3/8" goodyear rubber air hose and water seperators on each end as well, as a big seperator in the hard part of the air system.. and the compressor is just a 4hp 10 gallon, 5.6 SCFM $119 unit from Harbor Freight, and I had no lack of air with the standard velocity gun.... for breathing, I used an A/O saftey carbon filter mask, and went thru 3 sets of cartridges

i think it looks really good. pink or purple.
Color looks almost like 73 VW Pop Lilac which is the color I was going to paint our 40 Chevy back when we had it.

It was fun painting it.. I was used to siphon feed guns, but Walmart had the gravity feed gun, so I bought it, and it laid the paint down perfect.... all in all, it's proof you don't need expensive equipment.. If I had better conditions, it no doubt would have come out flawless... 3 quarts painted the car too

Looks like you did a good job Matt. What kind of respiratory did you use? I have priming to do before winter. The reason I'm asking about the respirator is because I just lost a friend to respiratory problems. About twenty years ago he was watching me mess around with cars, I painted a few in my garage, and I had an explosion proof fan plus at the time a good respirator. My friend started doing quite a few jobs in his small garage without the proper equipment, I tried to get him to practice safety but him being a young guy at the time, at least younger then me, he didn’t think it would be that bad. His life was cut way too soon, you can prevent lung damage but you can’t reverse it. Anyway nice job, and be safe.
The first car I painted was a 55 Chevy 2dr. ht. out side open air. I had help from the best neighbor a kid could have. He brought his compressor along with his spray gun; all I had was the paint supplies. It turned out nice; at least I thought it did. The year was 1965 I had a three day pass from the Army so we painted it.
