coupe engines
i'm collecting projects and parts just in case the good lord lets me live long enough to semi retire and come home and play with them...do you think the chrysler hemi is overdone in coupes...i mean most people want a hemi or a flattie...a flattie if fine for a roadster...no AC required...but anyone who lives in the deep south can tell you...you cannot survive the summer in a coupe without AC...i'm now running the old boring 350/350 combo...although i think my 350 looks awesome and the car has more than enough power...can't get it all to the wheels anyway...i would like the car to different...would it be a waste of money to put a ford cammer in my coupe...the chrysler cost so much less...but is quickly becoming the new 350 IMHO..."Behold, what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called sons of God." 1John3:1

Have you looked at the DOHC 4.6 Ford? It's all aluminum alloy and came in the Lincoln Mark VIII. '93 to '97 is the preferred vintage. I've seen the Marks for sale here in Phoenix for as little as $1000 complete. The problem with the cars is the air suspension, so you can buy them for cheap. I'd use everything from the donor; motor, trans, wiring, computer, all the electronics and maybe even the differential (IRS). This would be a gorgeous motor in an early car. Polish everything.Last edited by techinspector1; 06-24-2009 at 01:07 AM.

You are right about the Hemi. I went to Springfield miniNats and saw a bunch of them. But man are they neat. I am like you and wanting something different also. My choice is the LSX. EddGod, guns, cars and 1 wife, I would say I have it all.

I'm with Tech.
This morning I sat down with my bowl of Cheerios to compose a response to your thread suggesting the early DOHC Ford and saw that Richard had gotten there first, and he stated his reasons far better than I could have.
I have owned two Crown Victorias with 4.6's (but not DOHC's) and have been very impressed with the power and economy the engines provided, even while hauling around a big barge like a Crown Vic. The DOHC is a beautiful engine to look at. To my way of thinking it would be a fine choice for your project.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd get this:

To illustrate what Tech and Big Tracks have said, GEOFFAV showed some pics of the 4.6 going into his 33 coupe in http://www.clubhotrod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41900 Here's one:

Oh My - that's awesome. Polish would take some time, but man what a statement!"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil
