LeMans 24 Hours
Well, I might as well be the one to bring the news to the party. I know many of us here are NASCAR fans, NHRA, IHRA, and even some open wheel fans, but there are other forms of racing that I enjoy as well. I like F1 racing, but unfortunately I don't get to see too many of the races. However the LeMans race is different. Speed channel usually broadcast about 18 of the 24 hours, and even for me that's a lot of chair time during an otherwise busy time of the year.
Didn't watch as much this year as I did last year, but still got a lot of it in. Mostly the night racing part and then the last 3 hours (6AM to 9 AM this morning (their time Noon to 3 PM). And I am glad I did. The Corvettes raced in the GT1 class and this year they came in 1st, 2nd and 4th. Had one of them not lost it's gearbox it could have been 1,2,3, and 4.
Finally a proud moment for GM!
The all around winners were Peugeot 1st and 2nd and 4th and Audi in 3rd. It was Peugeot's first victory in 16 years, and Audi's first loss in the last 9 years. These cars are all turbo diesels and extremely fast, they normally run 30 mph faster than the Corvettes and Ferrari's at speed.
The last three hours this morning was really something to see.Last edited by mopar34; 06-15-2009 at 09:04 AM.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
