Oh God, I feel so sorry for you and your wife. I can't tell you how hard it was for me to say those words to the Vet. I kind of mumbled them and he said "I need you to tell me in no uncertain terms so I am sure of your intentions." It was like I was making the hardest decision a person could ever make. I just kept thinking that maybe someday I would wake up and they would have died in their sleep, but I didn't get off that easy. I know people have had to make more serious decisions in life about a human loved one, and a pet in no way compares to the loss they must feel, but it still leaves an empty spot in your life and your heart.
My heart goes out to you and my thoughts will be with you tomorrow.
I guess we have to take some comfort in the fact we gave them the very best life we could for so many years.........lots of other animals never get that opportunity.

Don,we are all soft when it comes to our furry family,my wife and I dont have kids,so our cats have always been our family.Several years ago[fifteen actually],I took my 12year old German Shepherd to the vet,as he was getting ill,and I didnt like seeing the old boy going down hill as quick as he was...Boy,what a day that was,,10 days before Christmas,,wont forget that in a long while,.
We now have cats, two tabbies, both with attitudes,or,as we call it,CATTITUDES,the older one is 13 now, still likes to thump the younger one,[8]and waits at the bottom of the drive every day for my wife to come home from work,so she can get a ride up the drive in the car, saves her walking I guess..Still considering another dog,but we will always have a cat or two or three about the house,,cant really live without them, can we??

If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???
Robin.
