Restorod - have you ever used the HORNADY® LEVEREVOLUTION® CARTRIDGES ? They claim good accuracy to 250 yards.

No, I haven't tried those. I might worry about killing power at those ranges since it does drop off with normal cartridges after 150 or so. Then again, in the terrain I hunt, a 150 yd. shot is a rarity.....most of my shooting is under 100 yds.
Still, they might be worth looking at if I decided to hunt in a different area...if they are even available in Canada.

Resto....my bad...I also have a Marlin 336....a 336RC to be exact, serial number K233xx. It is a side eject....it's oldtimer's I guess that makes me twist the truth; I am bottom eject, the Marlin is side eject.

It is listed as being made in 1953 per this Marlin lookup web page:

30-30 Md 94 has probably taken more deer than any other rifle.

Miroku has made shotgun for Charles Daly, the Browning Citori and under their own name.

Just for kicks, I dug my 30-30 out to see (again!!) when it was made - early 1959. My mother gave it to me for Xmas either '59/'60. My recollection was that she paid about $75 for it then. It is as near mint as possible as I have only put about 2-3 boxes of 150 or 170 grain Silvertips through it and mostly at woodchucks (ever seen a chuck after a head on hit with 150 grain {gag}). In my area shotguns and slugs are generally deer loads unless you go into the Adirondacks, then I usually use my sporterized Lee-Enfield .303 which is a much harder hitting load and a rifle that is rough and ready. This thutty - thutty of mine has only a Williams peep on it installed in existing holes, and I still have the original ramp sight and front sight cover! And no, it IS NOT for sale

(There are quite a few web sites discussing these rifles)
