Wow I didnt see the replies this thing has gotten since I didnt get them in my email. Hmm.. Anyways I wish I could afford $4000 for that 59 ElCamino that is all rusted even though the dash and inside looked VERY nice. I just cant afford to have another project no matter how good the deal is and how rare it is and how bad I want it. Remember my 48 Chevy coupe with the 79 Z28 Camaro front end on it and the ONLY rust was in the floors that was VERY simple to fix in probably 4 days? Well I came home the other day and my father actually GAVE it away! I have been VERY upset over this and the fact that I paid around $1500 for it and could have sold it for much more than that ($4000). It had extra RUST and dent free hoods, dashes, suspension parts, wheels, glass, headlights and trim, etc. He GAVE it away!!! He wont tell me to who because I will go back and steal it and he also wont give me any money out of it. I am angry because I need the money and could use it to get my detailing business going or fix some things on my Honda like new tires, timing belt change, etc. Hell he did the same thing to my 85 C10 truck after I bought my Honda car to save gas, I came home from work the next day and he gave it away. The truck still had the factory semi gloss paint on the chassis with NO rust and a very good drivetrain, brakes and tires. All it needed was a freshened up paint job and it was like new again.
Anyways I found a 79 Malibu on Craigslist.org for $1500 or best offer... I am thinking about taking a look at it as long as it has a 350 in it with a 350 or overdrive tranny.

Tell me what you think. I can buy it, sell my Honda Prelude for around $4000 and use the money left over for the little things the car may need and I also have an extra 350 in the garage with pretty much no miles on it that I can have for a backup engine. After that I may even have money still left over. I emailed the guy but going to call him now and see if it has rust, interior shape, engine and tranny type, etc. If it sounds good I will go take a look at it and make an offer depending on how it drive and is...
Any info on these Malibus would be great. Not sure why but I kind of like them for a plain square almost ugly car. I think with rally wheels and a 2 inch cowl hood they look decent. My friend had a early 80's one and like I mentioned before it handled ok and had plenty of power. I want a car that will handle great and have great power but at the same time good on gas (I am not looking for a strip/track car).

If you still have the titles I would think you'd have some legal recourse.

Thats the thing, he gave him the title and the title is still in original owners name and the last guy I got it from signed it to transfer it from the original owner to him and then from him to me. I could never get ahold of the guy to get the title fixed and last I heard, the guy wanted to buy the car back from me. Either way that was a stupid mistake to buy it with the title like that but then again, I look at the old car as an investment. I bought it for cheap, it sat with the doors and fenders, hood, chassis, etc under the house with vents and such to keep moisture out that ran all the time and stayed dry and over the years it gained value. And now I wont doubt the guys are laughing their asses off and going out to part the extra hoods and sell the car to someone else for a few grand.

Craigslist(or any trader mag) is your friend. In the past 3weeks I have found 3 great deals on a car, truck & van for myself and a buddy, all for less then $1400 each & all were a steal.
I found a 88 Buick Estate Wagon :eek::rolleyes::LOL: Yes a stationwagon.

Hell I couldn't beat the deal(&& I needed something to drive) its was saved from being a Demolition Derby car. 75% of the interior had to be put back together along w/the outside trim but 99% of everything was there. 90,000 on the body & 40,000 on the motor(seen the repair bill), brake system completely rebuilt, along w/the shocks, belts, hoses, and about 10,000miles on the set of tires.
All for the price of $500 :D
My buddy got a late 80's Chevy shorty van w/perfect interior and 99% rust free for $1400 & a rust free 85 Chevy 1/2ton(Arizona Truck) for $850 both run great w/about 100,000 on each of them..
You just have to find the right ones that make you say.........

My daily driver for now is a Subaru Outback Limited. 135,000 miles and still going strong. I was in a 4 car collision last week and luckily was the front car. No damage to the car at all (wife got a little beat up, but not the Subie :eek::D)
I would love to use an old car as a daily, but having to drive about 100 miles a day in my commute to and from work would take a real toll on an oldie including this oldie. :LOL::LOL:
So I will keep doing what I am doing until retirement and then the Subie goes into the garage and the 34 or the 57 becomes the daily driver. I'll have more time then to have fun.:D

My truck i got listed on here is my daily driver, but I only go a total of 24 miles a day. Call me crazy but it'll have to work till I get a beater small pick-up.

I found a S10 with the V6 in it (1990 I believe) for about $950 and then also a 84 C10 longbed with the 6 cylinder and 4 speed and the A/C still works, the guys wants $950 for it. I am going on Thursday to look at it because if it's in the shape he said it's in then I am going to get it. He said no rust through anywhere, just a little bit of surface rust on the bottom of the tailgate and a few other spots but it's very light surface rust. No power steering but hell as long as it has a big steering wheel I am fine. I think if it drives nice, A/C works good, etc I will put some money into it to look good and run great and then use it for this summer for work and then turn around and sell it. I'd rather have a 350 with an overdrive tranny but I figured for $950 and the A/C still works and no rust, that is a great deal. I just got word on the 79 Malibu I just posted and it is the V6 3.3L and everything works but only thing it needs is a water pump. If it had the 305 or 350 I'd get it but I know nothing about the V6 and really want a 350 if I get anything like a bit Malibu.
