Oh Mexico has it quirks too. A group of friends from our car club took a trip to Cancun. When they arrived in Mexico, the immigration people neglected to stamp their passports. When they left, they flew from Cancun to Mexico city for a plane change, someplace in Mexico City airport they had their passports checked and without the stamp were declared to be in Mexico illegally! There were 12 of them altogether. In order to proceed home they each had to pay an $85 fine for their transgression! The whole thing took more than 2 hours, and had their pilot not been stuck in traffic they would have missed their flight!

Sorry to hijack your rant, I agree we should have some way to balance security and convenience. I would suggest driver's licenses, but then California wants to give them to illegal aliens. Oh excuse me undocumented aliens......

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Sorry to hear of your crossing plite. I have wanted to for years go north to the BIG mall and now I wonder if I even could. The Malta run/stip is a fun time I have heard. Never been there though. I guess I would make sure that is what is required to get the proper documentation you need.

I realise there is no real cure for this but this is what i know about a passport, it only guarrantees the person who has it is who they are and where they are from. it does not guarantee they dont have a criminal record or intend to do harm.
I guess i will have to bite the bullet and get one ,maybe i can talk the wife into taking a hot holiday to Cuba sometime( sorry to you southern guys I just had to put that in)

Yup, us honest folk will spend the bucks, get a passport, and go through the hassle at the border. The bad guys will just keep sneaking in and out of the country to do whatever it is they think they must do......
