Haven't been on here as much....

Since we do a fair amount of camping with a travel trailer, my wife was "convinced" that we needed something a bit bigger and especially as well as get a newer RV then the 28' travel trailer we had been using. While we were in Florida a month ago we spent part of a day looking at fifth wheel campers in the 28-31 foot range. We saw many but none made her eyes roll back and go into palpitations. We got home and stated looking around here and found this one. A lot bigger, a lot fancier but not more expensive. The dealer thought it was an orphan. His loss, my gain. It's a 34' Glendale Titanium, made in Canada to more strict CSA regulations - and like I said, the dealer thought it was an orphan make. It was less $$ then either a 2004 or a 2007 Keystone Cougar. At least I have a truck heavy enough to haul it - my V10 F350. I do need a hitch adapter for the goose neck hitch already installed in the bed and that's a bit pricier then I anticipated, but - wothehel - someone needs to start the economy moving:LOL::LOL:

The perspective is a bit off in this picture as I used a very wide angle lens.

Craig - we don't pick it up until the 27th. Let the dealer store it while we still have snow then de-winterize it for me, I'm getting anxious to use it now that we made the $$+$ donation to help 'stimulate' the ecnomy

Hell, if you were in fla, you should have let us know, we could have had a CHR north meets south get together. That`s a real nice trailer you found! With the economy, right now is the best deals out there. have lots of fun with it.

Well Dave I guess that wasn't you I saw hanging around the Marathon Coach lot down here in San Antonio Florida. :LOL::LOL:

I told my wife, that guy looks like Dave from NY, I wonder if he's picking one up. Guess I was wrong.:D

The one you are getting looks really great. I know you will get a tremendous amount of enjoyment out of it, plus keep those factory guys employed.:D

Not that time Bob - we went to Lazy Days and Bates and a couple of others on I-4 but ended up locally.

As much as I can see, there is absolutely nothing amiss with this RV. The original owners took the CRT TV and the usual mediocre recliner out - but this way, a good flat screen TV and at least a comfortable Lazy Boy recliner will be the replacements.

And as always, gotta keep the workers working to support my SS funds in my retirement -:D

Dave...Very nice! Never have seen a nose on a fifth-wheel quite like that. If your flat screen TV is an LCD, a word of caution. I've heard that they will suffer damage from pretty cold temps in the winter months. Take a look at this link.

Built close to me!!

They build them in Strathroy Ontario Canada, it's the next town over from me, been by the factory many times. They produce some pretty decent trailers of all sizes. I drool when I go by looking at them....didn't get any on that one did I? Sniper

Thanks folks - we are really looking forward to this 'little' toy.

Mike - the way you will see it while at Burlington will be if you take the ferry across Lake Champlain as we will be a seasonal at a campground just South of the NY side ferry landing. We signed up for that when gas prices were $4.50/gallon just so we could get out more - another error in judgment. But with that said, we'll have almost 2 months before they open for the season..........:3dSMILE:

Joe - already have many kids and GC .... and they will have to sleep in tents as it is only a 4 sleeper

Roofcam - that front end is a patent - and very areodynamic. Some folks reported that their gas mileage was almost as good with as without that RV attached. At 10,000+/- pounds hanging off the rear of my F350 - I really doubt that is a true statement - but we'll see. Any DVD will be brought into the house at winter time.

Sniper - I did see some dried drool on the left fender and wondered....... I hope since it was built to PITA CSA standards that it is a better RV then most US (I did a power plant for DuPont about 15 years and learned all about them)

You betcha - if all 10 of the GC plus our 4 kids and their spouses/significant other in one case (howinheck did I ever get THAT many!!) show up at the same time, we might just have to sleep, use the bathroom and eat in shifts:LOL:. There was a Monaco motor home in for service parked next to mine when we did the walk through that probably was a 12 sleeper - at 44 feet and $265K.

I've taken those ferry's a few times actually! On a vacation back in the 80's...

I enjoyed it but, the wife was less than pleased whenever the cars moved around, one of the ferry boats only held 6 or 8 cars! Good Memories! Look forward to doing it in the coupe!

Brian - it's an Ontario made RV - so you should be impressed that I'm thinking of our Northern friends and neighbors. Pup tents - after 2 years with my Uncle Sam's military and being in the combat engineers - never, never again

Dave---I was being a bit facetious. I haven't slept in a tent for about 40 years. Kathy and I have "evolved" from tents to a camper trailer to a slide in truck camper to hotel rooms. I'm so damned crippled up with arthritis this year that if I slept in a pup tent for one night they could just dig a hole beside the tent and roll me into it and then put up a headstone!!!---Brian

Brian - ya just never know. I worked with a guy who thought one of the "finest" things in life was to go wandering in the Adirondacks in the -20F winter with a 2 man tent, then climb sheer rock faces covered with ice. I thought he was nuts, but to each his own.

I do have to say that we occasionally secumb to the luxuries of hotel life - like our recent Florida vacation!!

Dave, that's one luxurious looking RV, it should be called the Highway Hilton. I wish I had known you were looking at Lazy Days and Bates, I live only a few miles from each, I passed them both for years going back and forth to work. I would have loved to meet ya while you were down in my neck of the woods.

Mike - while we planned this trip to FL for a couple of months, it kinda snuck up on us and it was like "holy cow - we have to be at the airport" and at 0500 - TOMORROW MORNING".

Bates seems like a pretty good outfit to do business with - Lazy Days, sorry, but I don't buy an RV at a super market where I'm just a number. They have to put up with my wanderings and comparisons - and the amount of time we spend.

It's always fun and a great time to meet forum folks - next time I'll have my act together.

Brian, I have a short punch list of some odds and ends but my upholsterer is holding me up. He took several 30-50 foot big buck boats to do over the winter and is (hopefully!!) finishing up the last this coming week - I'll be taking a trip to see him in a few days. I guess I can't be too PO'ed at him as I have strung him along..............:o he only has about 2-3 full days of work left to finish my car.

Dave---Hope you're on the road soon. Kathy and I just got back last Sunday from a week in St. Lucia. I couldn't really afford to go, but with this rotten economy I figured better to go while I have very little work than when it picks up and I'm too busy to go.---And who wants to go to the islands in the summer time anyways. Damn, I'm glad I have a rich wife!!! I am really looking foreward to hotrod weather. I hope to do a couple of major road trips this summer with the rpu. Last summer sucked ---it was cool and wet a lot of the time, definitly not roadster weather. Pray for a hot dry summer---far better for roadsters and arthritic old fat men:LOL::LOL:.----Brian

Dave...The Glendale Titanium is an excellent trailer.....a couple of friends have them.......

About the mileage, though, one of the guys sold his whole trailer and F350, due to the 7mpg it was getting........It was about that size.....He traded it in on a 35ft motorhome...Diesel pusher......I can't imagine it getting any better....a case of more money than brains, I think....LOL

I have to say, every thing I've seen on that Titanium is top notch - and we've looked at a lot of different makes in the past couple of years and this was the best by far and at a great price. Seems everyone at the RV lot was afraid of what it is and were to dam' lazy to learn.

So now that guy went from the frying pan to the fire with a 35' motor home. He's still in 7-9mpg range, spent at least US $150K for the monster and probably a lot more, and is spending anywhere from US $.50 to $1.00 more per US gallon of diesel fuel. Then to top it off, he needs to drag a US $20K+/- car to run around with..................but with more money then brains..........Me, with a V10 gasser, will probably be happy with 8-9mpg.

Brian - the Hess Oil refinery on St Croix used to be a regular stop every 4-8 weeks for me - and the islands are really great in the summer - no @#$% tourists, you can really get to know the local folks and little traffic (especially since us North Americans have to drive on the right side of the road with a left hand drive car
