Garage find...Too good to be true.....

My G/F's brother is a realtor and he calls her to tell her about this forclosure home he had to go inspect for his boss. The people have been long gone and anything left behind belongs to the bank, or realtor, or whoever......He goes into the garage and finds this old car and immediatly thinks of me and how I love old cars.....He says everything is there but the wheels and tires! Engine, trany, the whole drive train. Of course he dosnt have a clue whats in it and he didnt take any pics of th engine compt....but damn, who cares...The only catch is he's gonna tell his boss that there is some POS car left abandoned in the gargage and he knows of a guy (ME) who will haul it for free......Lets just hope his boss aint into cars!!!!........Here's the only pics he sent me.....I know, its only a Desoto, but its a coupe for free and complete!!?? Im not complaining!! Bad part is, now I wont be able to sleep till I know if its mine or not!!!!!!......(Sorry the pics are so small....dont know how to make them any bigger)

Im gonna need to scrounge some wheels and tires to haul this thing up on the trailer?

Not bad at all...Might have to do a braodway title on it but it would be worth it..Probably takes a 4.5 inch wheel pattern and uses lug bolts rather than nuts and Left hand thread on the driver's side.

They're 4 1/2 bolt circle, Mopar/Ford/Amc etc, the problem will be they have an alignment stud on each between two of the lugs that the wheel needs to have a hole for if I remember correctly. Typically Ford wheels don't have that provision. Also, fuzzy memory here too, they may need lug bolts rather than nuts on a stud, also left and right hand thread. Hey............it's a Mopar!

Looks to be a 1948 Coupe in real nice condition. Great find. Will make a nice cruiser, especially after you drop in the Hemi.:eek::3dSMILE:

Maybe they left them in the trunk......;)

You could try Hemmings Motor News to find the lug nuts. There must be someone out there with an old Mopar hulk. I think the lugs were the same from 1935 through 1950 at least. Maybe there are wheels too? Further they are probably the same for Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler as well as DeSoto.
