Maybe we should all buy 250.00 buck beaters, swap them for 10k vouchers and put the cash down on one of those 09 cameros that are billed to get 26-27mpg on the highway!:D

Reading through this deal I'm not eligible but I'd say if they are going to give the automakers billions now and who knows how much more in the months to come, I would rather see this program as opposed to just throwing unaccounted for money at the big 3 the way they did the financial institutions. I don't like any of this government socialism junk, but if it has to be done, at least this program will keep auto maker employees and supporting businesses working and will give them back some market share.
The big question is, will the big 3 use this golden opportunity to prove they can build a high quality, competitively priced product, so they can become solvent in the future? (That includes creating a new business model that makes sense, this one is a tall order I know).
As with all these bailouts, if they work we all will benefit directly or indirectly. If it fails we will all be in deep doo doo.
If they really wanted stimulus, they would have just given out to each taxpayer their share, then enough people would have trotted out and bought new cars to save the whole auto industry, killed 2 birds with one stone.
We need to create the Detroit Valley Authority. Get unemployed and welfare recipients to make Gm cars, in exchange for a living wage, Also create US Transit Authority and train the rest of the unemployed to maintain our roadways, Finally Health Care and Education Groups to eliminate the uninsured and uneducated, when we are done, we can make them co-oped, and start all over again!
