What an abortion the Bentley is...why in the world would one paint a car as beautiful as a Bentley that Gawd awful color and put those pimpmobile wheels on it?....and that's "custom" design/work. Probably has a 50,000w boom box in it also.....Yuuuk!

Well, the SEMA show is being disassembled for another year. Had the pleasure of walking the show with Uncle Bob; he sure walks slow now that he is older. We both met Ken Thurm for lunch; it was neat to talk to someone we have been only communicating with via computer. Ken's eye for cars is as good in person as it is in his CHR travels.
Kenny Davis was also there; he is busy as usual. Kenny did not have a car at this year's show but he does have several in work.
Speaking of cars, this years show was a bit light of quality cars, especially rods. There were two notable exceptions; the Lane Deuce panel truck for Mr. Poteet and the Dan Webb streamliner (whatever) car. I will post pics later. Both these cars were better than first rate.
The attendance was down; you could actually stop and take a picture of cars (or whatever) whereas in previous years the crowd made getting down aisles a chore.
The booth bimbo quality suffered severely. There were no quality women signing posters. I wouldnt say that the show was flat, but Dow Chemical was not represented like in previous years.
The GM booth was disappointing as was the Ford booth. Vans and flex fuel junk isnt appropriate. The Chrysler booth was nice...lots of Hemis. Of course, when they all go belly up, maybe I can buy one of their booth cars cheap. The Jay Leno swoopy car (whatever the heck it is) that was in the GM booth had some electrical malady causing it to emit a bunch of electrical smoke and smell. Kinda nice to know that GM has the same smoke test we little guys experience.
Outside of the hall, there were darned few cool cars or trucks....I heard that they started charging $300 for the opportunity to display your car there.
There was an obvious absence of several big name players such as Holley, BF Goodrich, American Racing. Did not see the Goodyear booth either. Rumor has it that American Racing is taking 15 weeks to deliver an ordered set of wheels.
In summary: fewer people, fewer nice cars, fewer scantily clad booth bimbos.....still worth going to!!

Those of us that were there generally share Mike's impressions. To put it in perspective though, even in a down year the local Chamber figures there were some 130,000 SEMA visitors/vendors who dropped around $2 billion dollars here.
Guess I missed another one... Oh well, just liek the Cubs fans, wait till next year!!!!!
From what I have read American Racing wheels are no longer made here if you get my drift. I wanted torque thrusts for my truck. So sorry, you no get my money. :mad: :mad:
Sounds downright depressing! Under enflated cars and women! What the heck is goin on? We'll just have to wait for Ken and his car to spruce up the next show!:3dSMILE:
Well, I still liked the show, less crowded, got to see more detail an the cars I looked at last year,got a clearer look at all the after market parts on the tables and after market parts on the girls :LOL: :LOL:
There certainly wasn't any entertainment lacking when you hang around Uncle Bob and Mike (Robot). That was more fun than the show, thank you both for a very enjoyable afternoon.
Mike, thanks for the tip on the battery's, they are making me two for the new truck, almost halve the size of what they had.
I'll buy lunch next year :D

A good mate of mine drives a potent F100.
Across the back he painted: "This truck is a hybrid; it burns gas and rubber".

Geez, I thought the Bentley was kewl!!!! Hot Rodding should be an artistic expression.... Think I know what the builder was expressing..... Looking for one of them SEMA babe types that would really look good in the car!!!!
Many years back, friend of mine did a '68 Chevelle in pink with purple (actually a lavender color) bumpers and trim--- Showed it a number of times and got every "ladies choice" trophy that was given out at the shows he entered the car in, then gave the car to his girlfriend....
Guess I'd have to know the builders motive or who the customer is before I could condemn his color choice.... May be something as simple as that is what the customer wanted......
