So at 2am the phone rang

And it caller ID said Scott Air Force Base. It was our son Joe calling us from Kuwait through a transfer line coming out of the Air Force Base just some 30 miles from us. He sounded good but said he was bored since they haven't really been doing anything other then general maintenance on the trac's. He did say his ship was involved with the Russian ship that was hijacked off Somalia. He didn't get into details other then he said they were there.

He told us to tell everyone hello & thank you for the letters, emails and boxes of goodies. Joe did inform us that it takes over a month to get anything to him because of being on the ship & said if anyone wants to write him the best thing to do is use his email address which I can give anyone who wants it.

We did talk about the work on his truck he wants done & thankfully he decided "NOT" to jack it up in the air. He said it would but unwanted stress & wear & tear on the suspension & drivetrain, plus it would be cheaper to lower it & easier for himself, his girlfriend & others to get in to it.

Just as we were finishing up the call I told Joe that the call was great but it didn't start like the ones in the past. He laughed a bit & then said "So what are you guys up to??" That is how he always started his talks w/us when he was in Iraq because he always forgot about the time difference. Denise & I told him we loved him & he said he'd try to call again in a couple of weeks.

What a GREAT guy to call "OUR SON"........joe

    Two possibilities exist:
Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not.
    Both are equally terrifying.
