Long Arm of the Scrappers Hit Again
I just got back from northern Ontario, Hearst to be exact. On the way into Hearst from the east at Wed noon, there was a fairly large number of older vehicles lined up against the bushline. A lot of round rooflines, I'm guessing late 30's, 40's and 50 vehicles. With a number of later models (70's and 80's) parked here and there, making it hard to see what was there. Plus an over abundance of "Keep Out" and "No Trespassing" signs for good measure. I would always check to see if anyone was around, but could never find the owner. This time though, as I drove by, I was disheartened to see 4 large, screened, scrap steel trailers parked in the field. Two were full, and the large excavator was filling the third one with flattened car/truck bodys. Of course, the later stuff, 70 and 80's era vehicles were untouched. I don't know how good of shape any of it was, but there had to be something there of value besides the steel. On the way back south on Friday morning, I went past there around 10am, and the three trailers were gone. The forth was being loaded with heavier looking pieces,(engines, trannys?) hard to tell since it was back off the road far enough. Nothing but ghosts now. Did get some pictures of other vehicles for you to check out. Sniper
