Got to see my T go down the road last night.

Last night we took a break from building and took my T and Don's T to a local cruise. Had a lot of fun, swapped lies with other rodders, and then went to Ft Myers Beach for dinner.

On the way home we switched cars so that Dan got to drive my T and I rode in then drove Don's T for a while. I had never seen my car going down the road so I had no idea what it looked like. Gave me a whole new perspective on what everybody else sees when I am driving it. I have to admit I liked what I saw. :D Looks like a bug going down the road..........an angry bug. :p A LOOOOOW angry bug. :cool:

I'd encourage any of you who have never seen yours driving along to let someone else drive it and you ride in another car. You will get a kick out of seeing how it looks motoring along. I would have loved to hear how loud the exhaust is, but Don's T drowns out everything around it.

I bet it was a nice sight to see. And I know what you mean about the exhaust noise. When I go riding with my neighbor, his harley is so loud, that it's hard to hear my own engine, to know when to shift!:eek:

This is the only one I have of it going down the road. It was taken when my Son Dan and I went to Billetproof this year. See, I do drive it in the rain!! :LOL:

Don when you drive any distance at hwy speeds, how well does the windshield deflect the wind off you head, neck and shoulders. I'm guessing you guys are getting the equivelant of a motorcycle with small fairing. I know my head gets pushed back by the wind enough to give me some neck and shoulder pain at the end of the day! Great shot of the two of you! I'm always impressed with people in convertibles, who's hats don't fly off!

Surprisingly, it isn't all that bad. The windshield does about nothing, except maybe deflect the air upward a little. I probably got used to it from driving my '27 all those years, the windshield is about as low as this one, so it offered no real protection either. One thing I have noticed is that after a long drive, like to Daytona or Ocala on the Interstate, my neck muscles are pretty tired from holding my head against the wind for several hours......nothing a couple of beers can't fix though. :p

I've even given up wearing sunglasses at night when I drive around town. Not only were they making it a little difficult to see well, but I figured out I was probably looking like an idiot to motorists around me.........."Look at that guy trying to be cool and even wearing sunglasses at night!! :LOL: :LOL: )

When I drove Don's T the other night, his windshield is much higher, and I noticed that I got very little wind in the face.

Know the neck strain thing! Bet it feels good though to have that fresh air and the safety of two doors!

Yes, it does tend to clear out the sinuses. However, the occasional June Bug that hits you in the head at 70 MPH feels like a bullet sometimes. :eek: :LOL: Raindrops also are like getting pelted with hail at those speeds........or any speed for that matter.

Description of a June bug please..We had a friend living over there some years ago who lost an eye to a June bug while he was riding his bike.Dont know what speed he was doing,or what speed the bug was doing either,but the collision did some damage..:eek:

Don, talking about seeing your car going down the road brings a couple of memories back to me, one was when I was a kid, and I had a 55 Chevy, my buddies car was broken down so I let him take me home, and use my car to go to his house. I told him when he got what he needed to come back to get me and I would take him to get his car. Well after what seemed like a long time to me I started walking towards his house, which was about 2 miles. As I got on a straight run of highway I saw in a distance my car but instead of him making a left turn which he would have meet up with me, I see my car turning right going away from me I was pi**ed.

When I would come home on leave from the Army in the 60’s going through city’s I would look to my left and watch my car in the windows of the buildings with the glass fronts. I guess most young guys have done that a time or two.

Your car looks good going down the highway. It’s nice when someone appreciates your car and gives the thumbs up; it’s really nice when they are driving a Mercedes, or some other expensive car. It was for me when I would drive my 55 Chevy to visit with my daughter when she was getting ready to have our first grandchild.

Don, being a motorcycle rider, I've accumulated a large collection of riding glasses, some of them cost over $100, but I keep going back to glasses my son turned me on to back in 1999. The absolute best (and cheapest) glasses that I ride with are actually safety glasses you can pick up for $6-7 at a welding supply store. They are the Uvex Bandits. They have interchangeable lens which are only about $3-4 each. I keep a pair of smoked lens glasses for daytime riding and a pair of both clear and amber lens glasses for night time riding. Give a pair of these a shot, I'll bet you like them.

BTW, it is really cool to see your own car going down the road, as long as it's not being stolen.........LOL.
