Well, typical efficiencies are 20%, not 10%. 38% represents about the maximum possible in a gasoline engine. That does not equate to 100 mpg. A tuned F1 engine is about 37% efficient.
Fators of 4-5x are not possible IMO using gas and/or alcohol................
