My latest conspiracy theory is that the Democrats are stalling on any use of petroleum because of the deal they have made on the subsidy for corn-ethanol. Unfortunately that subsidy is way overpriced and with the crop losses in Iowa due to the floods, corn for humans and livestock will be even more expensive when the corn-ethanol amounts are also taken away from the food market. I keep saying I want an Aptera, but my wife wants four seats. I think the Aptera folks are indeed working on a a fourseat model so I hope they get it into production soon but I am trying to figure out how to roll with the punch and prepare for flex-fuel in a carbureted engine. The easy answer is to change to an Edelbrock manual choke model but it would be a lot cheaper if I could keep my automatic choke model and modify it for a manual choke because I think all you have to do to run E-85 is to fatten up the mixture with a choke but be able to change it back if/when you find some gasoline. Short of buying a new carb, does anyone know of a kit/way to modify an automatic choke to a manual choke? Hey if I had an original Model A all I would have to do would be to turn that rod on the right side of the dash to adjust the Tillotson updraft carb! Has anyone here converted an automatic choke to manual? I dislike elections because of all the BS they bring but this time it seems like more BS than usual and the Democratic candidate seems to be able to say anything and make it sound good but overall it is hypocrisy because the Democrats have stalled on oil drilling over and over and over.

Dem's are pretty fuggin Dumb.....No Oil=no jobs=no personal income=lower or no Tax income=no money to pay for entitlements, Oh, I forgot, the government can print money.

Most aircraft have a mixture control. It's not a choke but it really controls the mixture. Perhaps that's the ticket?

Only 50 years ago, I can remember paying 19 cents a gallon for regular gas.
I remember telling my pals that it would be a cold day in hell before I'd pay 38 cents a gallon for the Chevron 108 Octane, white pump. Well, it's getting chilly.
Why is it the Brazilians don't import any oil. Could their sugar cane based E85 be working? Why is it we're using corn based mash to make our ethanol when
sugar cane has 7 times more inherent energy?
The politicians seem to be ready and willing to torpedo any idea put forth to
ease the energy crisis, that is unless it's a bad idea, then they're all for it.
Then they can say, "see it didn't work, I told you so".
What's troubling is that the guy on the streets seems to think that all we have to do is drill. Problem solved. By all means, yes, drill but all that is going to do is put off the inevitable. We need to come up with an answer like the Brazilians did. Might not be E85, might be something else that works for us, but we need to get started yesterday!
In my humble opinion, we're in a war and if we don't win this war it will spell the end of us as a significant world power.
Our enemies would love to see this happen. They are coming to the realization that all they have to do is sit back and wait. They don't need guns or WMD's, just time.
Whoever we elect as Pres needs to be an economic warrior and God help us if he's just another politician.
I can remember watching John Kennedy on TV telling a Nation that we were going to put a man on the moon. I thought, "oh sure", fat chance, when pigs fly.
We really need someone to rev up the American machine, pull out all the stops and solve this problem. A good President could do this.
I hope we don't have to descend into the dark ages before somebody has the balls to exhibit the leadership we sorely need.

Don't see many Texans jumping in on the thread in George W's defense so here goes.The problem lies in the Congress and Senate ,GW wanted to drill in Alaska years ago,what happened it got Killed.What happened to off shore drilling? The Congress and Senate strikes again.Oil securities are also a big factor in the price of oil.Greedy people wanting to make a quick buck and helping to send the economy to the basement.He is doing the best he can with what he has to work with. I may not agree with everything he says but I do respect him as President.The Congress and Senate abandoned him after approving the Iraq Offense,granted he was misinformed with bad intellengence,there again the best he had to work with.If a person tried to kill your father how would you feel about that person.That made his decision easier to make even though he knew there would be loss of life when he made the decision to go to war .

It will be interesting to see what is found in Syria by the Nuclear Inspecting Team. Is it possible that Iraq off loaded any WMD to Syria?

As for GW after leaving DC he will try to work the ranch and start the Grecian Formula.Leaving a job most of us would turn down. He will be my neighbor,just up the road.LOL

This country has lost all of it's standards set by our forefathers.We don't have a house for the Governor to live in any more because of it.Some people would torch the White House and laugh as it burned,God Help Us.

As for people that want change ,we will get a change of the President ,Hopefully the right one.Again God Help Us.
