Since I seemed to make a bad impression on some folks with my last thread, I thought I would try to redeem myself with a "summer discussion".:rolleyes:
With temperatures climbing into triple digits here on the coast, I sure whish I had A/C in my project, but it would be a big expense to add.:CRY: So for now I have 2-door A/C: roll down the windows in my two doors and drive fast!**)
My question is how many rodders have A/C in their rides? Does it affect your performance?:)
Your system is what we call a 2-70 air conditioner. Roll down two windows and get her up to 70 mph. :LOL:
I'v got the 4X60 A/C myself
A/C in the shop and house, but I'm a 2/70 AC guy for Hot Rods..... Of course the Bonneville blows real cold air, but it's just the cruizer....
In Arizona we don't get much choice if we want to drive throughout the summer. Either put AC in the car or spend most of your time talking about how hot it is rather than talking cars.
My 34 has a/c but it's currently in a non working mode. It's an R12 unit that needs conversion. Only need a/c about 7 days during the summer so I can live with just the windows. Besides I've been told by my nephew that you ain't kool unless you can ride with your arm out the window.:cool: :LOL:
On the other hand, it being a southern built car, it has no heat. That hasn't been a problem for me, but my wife won't ride with me from December to March.:D :D Sometimes that ain't such a bad thing.:LOL:

Ah, you guys are soft. :D My a/c went out in my daily 2 years ago, and I never had it in my Jeep truck, but I still got through the hot summers here ok. One thing that helped was that I drove to work early in the am before it got hot, and drove home that evening when it was already cooling off for the day.
The shop is getting pretty warm though. That is why we tend to go in the evening and stay till maybe 5 or so in the morning.

I need A/C in everything. I'm getting old! I've got Vintage Air in my 36 and it works OK until a big rig passes in the opposite direction. That sucks all of the cool air out of the car. The old style upholstery welting doesn't work as well as the new type door seals. Our heat here is very humid, definitely not dry heat.
1932 Ford Factory air (picture below) installed on all 1932 Ford's as standard equipment,........... when you open the rear window and windshield,..you have flow through ventilation ! :)

i know what you mean about humid heat larry. for the previous 5 days the temp was between 94 to 103 with 40 to 60% humidity. we got up too 115 heat index 1 day. when it gets like that i do not even go outside.
