That's nice, but Memorial Day is to honor those who died, Veteran's Day honors the Vets still living.....
My memories as a kid were a very solemn ceremony either at the school in the auditorium or at the American Legion, then a trip to the cemetary on the hill south of town and a firing squad salute over the graves of those Vets who had died in the previous year followed buy a reading of "In Flander's Field" and taps played at the memorial in the cemetary with all the names of the locals who had died in combat....
Just like everything else, now it's all commercial. Beer sales are the best weekend of the year and don't forget to catch all the good sales at the retail stores........
Anyway, I'll still be at the old cemetary in Valley Springs on Monday and still flinch when the firing squad fires, then blink a lot when the guy plays taps............Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
