back from car show
well i took my and charlies car to the show. As soon as we pulled in a guy walked up to me and said that it was a 71. i smiled and said yes. he told me that he has built alot of chevys but in his opinion mine car was the best. he asked who did the work. i told him i did. he said impressive. so of course i was on cloud nine. then a guy with a gasser asked charlie about my car and he said that i really messed my mine up painting it semi gloss and was i trying for a rat rod. charlie said no that it had its spring coat on until we could get enough money for a better paint. charlie then asked him about his car and he said that he did everything except the body work. charlie then asked him about his engine. the guy did not really know. charlie told him that if he thinks that my car looks bad he should bring his car out and mine would blow his doors off. then charlie walked away. i really love my son. had one mishap. a guy with a drag car was parked next to a cherry 56 bel-air. the medvac copter landed 50 yards away from the cars. it lifted the drag car hood with the tunnel ram and slammed it into the bel-air. causing a very deep gash into the bel-air. the owner of the bel-air was actually crying. all in all a great show. got a lot of good leads on some parts and met alot of nice people. can not wait until the cruise ins in June. There were no tropheys given as it was just an exhibition. I will post pics as soon as i can figure out how to post alot at once.Last edited by jyardgirl; 04-20-2008 at 06:18 AM.

Sounds like you and Charlie had a good time too bad for the 56 Chevy, it’s not always about winning. You got some good feed back on your car, that is worth more then a Trophy. I'm going to start another thread about the grandson.

See Barb, didn't we tell you it would be fun?
Looks like you got the usual mix of nice people and one or two know-it-alls who feel obligated to make some snide remark. They are always there, you just have to laugh them off. Bet you can't wait for the next one.
Richard, you actually live in a place that allows you to burn outside? Cool.
If you did that down here 5 different agencies would be hauling you off to jail. I miss the old trash burning days we had up North...........had some pretty good bonfires going in my day.
Like your Grandson, my Boys used to love to poke around in the fire.

Kool you made that step and set up your network. The good cruizes always produce the contacts that make this hobby interesting.

The last show I attended with my Rocket 88, I was approached by a guy who looked the car over and exclaimed that I had the nicest Chev at the event.
I just said Thanks...

Way to go girl, you have a damn nice looking car of one of the best body styles Chevrolet ever produced. There are always jerks, just ignore them.
My Mother-in-Law had a reddish orange '76 Pontiac Astre and it was a fun little car. The little Holley carb can be a challenge.Ken Thomas

It's good when they asked what year is it? You tell them, and then they say you know the one I really like is the year before or the year after the one you have. But just think you are the one with the car at the show!! Where is there car?

Hey Barb, missed this thread, was either at work or during the crash last weekend. Nice shots. I can't wait to get my truck on the road and to shows. Its going to be probably at least a year, but I can wait! I'm not sure I saw Charlies car, did you happen to get a shot of it?
My favorite comments from coworkers are when you going to paint it? Drive it to work sometime! and my favorite, just these little snide looks and head shakes, as I talk about what I was doing over my days off!(like what idiot would waste his time doing that, you gotta feel for his wife look!)I'm a nurse on a Neonatal intensive care unit. Most people think if your a male nurse your gay or whimpy. Nurses also eat their own for lunch!

I check in everyday and some are better than others. I don't think Brent has anything to do with the forum anymore, but I'm not sure. Hopefully as time moves on the forum will get better.
Where is everybody?
