70 Monty kids didn't want

I've had this Monty for awhile now,tried giving it to my daughter when she Graduated,(to big and ugly she said,was lime green at the time)then my son turned it down also when he graduated,(he wanted a 63 impala)was sitting in the back of my shop for about 6 years ,mostly all unasembled,so for the last mo or so my son and I are trying to get it ready for a family get together this week end,al we have left is to upholster the pass seat and instal the rocker mouldings, we buffed out every piece of chrome moulding the car, that was a job in it self, NOW my son wants it, let me know what you guys think of the car,is it a keeper now!!:whacked:

Looks good to me! if you want to give it away, ill come get it! I sure wish my pops was trying to give me stuff like that.

I would definitely say it's a keeper that was one of the nicest looking Monte Carlo's built. I'll trade you my original bought new 88 Monte Carlo SS for it that is if my wife would let me, you have a nice car.

That is one of the best montes that i have ever seen. If you ever consider getting rid of it please let me know. I would give it a excellent home.

I'm going to drive her for the summer then I'll to decide what I'm going to do,
had 2 surgeries within the last year,at 17 gran each and no insurance,thing are getting a little tuff,somethings got to go, wife or the cars,(man do I love cars:LOL: :LOL: )

Hey I'm like you, wives are nice but that's a nice car. Just kidding can’t do without good women. Sorry to hear you don't have insurance a lot of people are with you there, let’s hope some of that will change to where everyone can get medical care.

That is a Real nice car ! I had Two 1970s one 1971 one 1972 . Man they very Like Big Chevelle's . One of the 1970 Monte's had a 400 SB stock . And the 1971 I built up a 350 and had that car running in the 13teens with a 342 gear . I Still want to build one more early Monte .

thats a good looking ride , if the brats didnt want the car before i wouldnt give it to them now!! tough love haha! screw the medical bills drive the snot out of it..

finished mine last night about 10:00. just have to polish the engine and i am good to go. would be glad to help if i lived closer. will post pics when i get home.

Remember to just have a good time, if there is a trophy to go along with the enjoyment that's fine. I don't know what you use to clean the engine but when I took my 40 Chevy coupe with a lot of chrome, and a stainless firewall I used armor. I would spray everything wipe it off then with a clean cotton rag buff the chrome, no wax to have to get out of crevices. Just what I did anyway have a good time.

this is how we clean the inside of our cars, after cleaning the door panel with a soft Grissel brush & vinyl cleaner,I used a can I found of old of vinyl top cleaner/polish, leaves vinyl looking new just like amoral and drys clear so it does not collect dust, and on the plastic stuff again we scub it clean then we apply furniture wax to give it that deep shine,then we sprayed with clear poly. used on furniture,( just don't do this to leather for might stain it )

i use goop hand cleaner on my leather and vinyl. mcquiers engine brite on the engine and brasso polish for the chrome. the goop does not attract dust linke the armor and gives it a deep clean without streaks. i am taking you guys advice and just going to have a good time. .

The 70 to 72s were the best looking of all,the rest were all only good for winter beaters. The 83 to 87 SSs looked better then the 73 to 79s but I would rather have a 70 to 72. Jeff

my wifes uncle bought a new 70 monty SS,454 and fully loaded,white with saddle int. and late 72 I bought a 71 monty with 9000 mi. that an old lady friend had, then about 10 years later my wife wrecked it,:CRY: car was still in mint condition,she mysteriously vanished,I think ALIENS came and got her**) (just kidding):LOL: so this kid I knew had this 70 which he totally abused it ,he ended up totaling it out ,I offered him 300.00 for what was left,:whacked: in facted the motor on this monty is the one off my 71,
after working on the pass seat most of the day sunday,I got her done and took it to show my oldest sister,(she hates being call that)she loved it ,
she looked at me and says, I 'll bet you're going to give this to Alyssa !!
I just smiled :) she also reminded me I have 9 more grandkids,if you do that you will have to finch the other car and give them each a car !:eek: :eek:

loved the photos. especially of the engine in the monte. I have a 350 in mine. Do you think that the street scoop would fit my engine without cutting the hood?

I had to modify the scoop to make it fit under the hood. I was running a Chevrolet factory 2x4 medium rise intake manifold with two Carter AFB carbs. I had to replace the mounting brackets on the Mr. Gasket scoop with a flat sheet of aluminum to lower the height of the scoop about 1.5 inches.

this is Alyssa, my oldest grand daughter and the new owner of the monty,
she was very happy but is afraid to drive it,she promised to take care of it
and not to sell it,she can hand it down to one of her younger brothers if
she wants to get rid of it someday,Ithink I ruffled some feathers but thats
OK for now, I just got to get busy with some other toys cause I have 11
more grand children **) **)

Alyssa is a very lucking girl to have a grandfather like you, I'm sure she will keep the car for a long, long time. Maybe she can hand it down to her daughter or granddaughter many years from now. She has to be very special to you.
Grandchildren are the greatest.

I want to thank all of you for the wonderful comments about the Monty and of course my grand daughter,yes she has a special place in my heart as do all my other grand children, Alyssa was born with a very rare decease ,she was given less then 50/50 of making it and if she did it was going to be in a vegetable stage,but with all the prayers and help of doc. as you can see she is normaland very happy, now we found out that 2 of my other grand daughters were born with holes in their hearts,(there is a name for that but I just can't remember)so now much of our attention and prayers are on them,days like today (fathers day) are very to me to able to have here for hugs and kisses,,PS Happy fathers day to all you fathers and grand father!

I would never have thought anything like that with her being in such a serious health condition. Her prayers had been answered now it’s time for the little ones too have their prayers answered. My Wife works at a Ministry center PHJC {The Poor Hand Maids Of Jesus Christ} I will call her now to have their names put on the prayer list, the prayers go all over the World. They prayed for my Daughter When she needed prayers. I just say Alyssa's sisters.

I just gave the prayer request to my wife to add to the Sister's list.
