nice surprise
In process of making a bucket out of a 1919 dodge tub. While cutting off the back half, the sawzall started pulling a orange fabric out of the box section under the door. When I got it apart i found a 1887 silver dollar wrapped in what appeared to be a rouge treated bag. Missed it by less than a quarter inch. Dollar is in almost mint condition. Picture is how it came out of the bag.

Nice find! Love old coins.:D

Don't clean it, leave it with it's current patina and have it certified by the PCGS. You might be surprised what it might be worth.

If you find the value isn't real high you might want to incorporate it into the build, like maybe epoxying it onto the dash or somewhere. Nice find. :D

Don has a great idea. Either the dashboard or maybe even countersunk into the steering wheel horn button.

Years ago we were in the middle of remodeling a 100 year old house we had bought, and when I pulled out one window I found a dime in there. It was something like an 1899 D or similar. I just knew I had struck gold, but when I had it appraised I found out if the D (for Denver mint) would have been an S (for San Francisco) it would have been worth a bunch of money.........mine was worth something like $ 2. :( :( Story of my life.:o
Here is something I pulled up on Wikapedia for you on your coin:
What is the value of an 1887 silver dollar?
In: Coins and Currency
Answer
1887 is not a rare date for Morgan Dollars. In circulated condition, it's worth about $12. A nice uncirculated one is worth about $35
Still a nice find, and it belongs to your Dodge. Would make an interesting conversation piece mounted somewhere on it.
