I've never seen one in person either, but have read about them too. As I remember it was some collaboration between Ford and some steel company, maybe US Steel or Reynolds as was mentioned earlier. I think it was done for some worlds fair to show off the qualities of stainless steel. I think Pittsburgh figured into the story somewhere.

As I remember, the cars were not 100 percent stainless, stuff like frames and running gear were regular steel and when they restored some of them they needed a lot of work on the undercarriages but the bodies were still nice, obviously.
