What is your first knee jerk reaction to this car ? :LOL:
It is a 1961 Ford Thunderbird 390 ROADSTER PKG (bucket seats/ power windows/ ... )
all the pix may not be correct but they are dang close ...
just looking for info and Opinions.

I used to hate them about 20 years ago, now I'd have to say they're unique, have style, and seem like a glamerous ride, but I'm a rag top fan when it comes to this one!

I've got a 65 hardtop in the shop right now.
Actualy I liked all of the T-Birds up to 1967. The 1968 thru 1979 went from ugly to uglier to ugliest. Huge boxes some with 4 doors.
Other than the early years, I always liked the 59 Birds especially the ragtops. The early sixties were nice looking cars and again especially the rag tops.:D
Used to be a 61 in my neighborhood that was running and all there. Haven't seen it in a while. Hmmm? The 61-66s are still around but not real popular.
Hmmmmm.......I won't be able to make an opinion till I get more info. Could you post up a bunch more shots of your "wife" who is standing in front of the Olds? :eek: :rolleyes: :LOL:
Well, I like these T Birds a lot. I think they are classy and sporty at the same time. My vote goes for buying it.

While I'm known as "The Bowtie Bigot", I really like the looks of this style Thunderbird ........... along with the "55-"57's, they really showed some classic lines :cool: :cool:
generally I don't care for them, but the first pic that breeder has there (without his wife) I really think looks sleek, and retro-futuristic if you get my drift, like the Jetson's version of what vehicles of the future would be.

:HMMM: Since you asked......I've just never been a fan them really......so my knee jerk reaction is to say maybe I just have bad taste too.
If it were me, I'd try to find some other car for the wife to fall in love with. But that's just me. Other people love them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
My wife is in love with '66 - '67 Chevelles. I don't particularly mind them, in fact I kind of like them too; but, I wish I could get her to fall in love with a '66 or '67 GTO instead. In the end though, I may have to find a Chevelle for our next one.

I prefer the 58 thru 60 but that bullit quarter is nice buy her a car . LOL

All the '58 to '66 are neat cars!!! A bit soft on the market right now, should be a good time to be buying one.

Neat cars, had a 61 for a few years. They wake up quite a bit with more carburator than stock and really like tri-power. Road nice and sure LOOKED like it ought to go around corners :o
They weigh well oner 4000 pounds if I rememeber correctly and takes a bit of steam to get them moving, but overall nice car.
well ... she wants a carson top put on it (I'm not sure about just yet? ), and lowered, called the guy a few hours ago and we got it !
just got to go pick it up. only one left on her list is a 1969 SS El-caminOoooooooO . Now I need a 49/51 Merc ...;)
Its growing on me I guess ... I'm not really anI Ford or Chevy any more.
I just like stuff on wheels .... :D now'an days.....
The one breeder posted is what we'd like it to look like :)
I've seen that car before ... somewhere .

Bullet 'Birds ('61-3) are cool, and look great lowered. Make the woman happy Tommy..............
I love the 61-63 bulletbirds, of course I'm kind of partial, as I own a 61 hardtop. They are big cars with big engines, but they will get up and move. And when they do get up to speed, they ride like a dream. Here's a few pics of my favorites.

A Carson top???? Sounds like a heck of a good plan to me!!!! Really be kewl with the top off and an old style cover over the back seat like some of the birds used to have.... CRS is maxxed right now, can't for the life of me remember what they called them!!!!!!!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:Quote:

Tree if you are getting rid of the wire wheels let me know what you want for them. My Brother-in-law has a '61 hardtop and would be very interested in them. His '61 was a literal garage find, it had only 32 K miles on it and is in pristine shape. It was in the garage, covered and on blocks in the house he and his wife bought. The husband had passed away in '82 and he gave the car to his oldest grandson. The grandson drove it daily for about 6 mos, then parked it at his grandmothers, then he would occasionaly take it out, about 12 years ago put it up on blocks, drained the gas tank took out the battery and covered it. It sat the way until my brother-in-law bought it from him for $4,000. Gary has since gone through the car, replacing brakes, seals, etc..
He has mentioned a couple of times that he wished he could find some spoke rims at an affordable price.

Never can tell about her... she still has her first car from H.S. that'd be about 14or so years now but I've had her tell me to go ahead and trade one off we didn't have off the trailer from picking it up. :LOL:

The T-birds up to about 66 all have great stock design layouts. Most anything done to them only detracts their already well proportioned lines. Some mods actually exagerate design details from that well proportioned look to a glaring degree.
