And finally..................... hope you enjoy these.
Don
Nice pics.....I remember seeing the Little Red Wagon at Lyons when I was a kid.....Man it was COOL **) **)
Was the "canopy car" there, or did Tom buy it to bring it home as a surprise for me??????
Are you talking about the Glass Slipper, Dave? If so, I didn't see it.
Don
Great pictures, I would have a hard time leaving if I ever got in there!
no, the one he ran in the 80's, rear engined car with a canopy. Garlits played with them for awhile.Quote:

I have never been to the museum even though my wife and I have been in that area a number of times. Now, she is a fine woman, but like most women she's just unable to separate the really interesting stuff (like the many treasures in the Garlits museum) from the things SHE wants to see and do.
Many good memories there.
Jim
What, no picture of the funny car that he did a 180 endo with a few years back...You know, the one with the bent chassis sitting up on the chassis stand? I'll have to see if I can dig it out of my old photo album (pre digital)........
Bill S.
PS: he does have a nice collection though doesn't he.
killer pics don!:D
Great pics! I stopped by the museum a few years ago. It's a fantastic place for gearheads.:toocool:
Sounds like you had a good time.:)

One thing, Don sure did wreck and catch himself on fire quite a few times! The information placards he has posted all around told some very scary stories.
Don
Great pictures.....thanks for posting them....:)
Don, thanks for the pix! I've always wanted to go there, but always running short of time in my Florida trips. We usually go down A1A to 301 so we are usually only a few miles from the museum, just never seem to find the time. Saw the previous postings of your car. Another thing I need to see in one of the future trips, probably not until this year's Turkey Run.:(
Saw 270 pix of Billetproof on another site. How the photographer missed your roadster is beyond me. They must have ignored the Florida tagged cars.
Great pics, well worth the drive! I'll have to go one day!
some classics in there ............ I really love Bobby Langley's "Scorpion", "Mooneyes", and The "Speed Sport" roadster .............. those were the "Good Old Days" of drag racing
I agree, so many memories, and all of them in pristine condition. Dan fell in love with the Speed Sport roadster and took a bunch of pictures of it. He wonders about the possibilities of building a street version.......kept asking me questions about transaxles and stuff like that. We probably spent more time looking at it than any other car. I better keep an eye on my '27 roadster body.
Don
Don, did you make it to the other museum? There is 2 you know. thats where the crated flatties are.
Huh uh John, we didn't. Now I know why the lady that we bought the second pass from said we would need them to give to the other lady. We were really torn between wanting to spend time outside and also seeing the museum. In a way I wish the event would be two days long.
I originally thought it was two days, but then I realized Sunday was Easter, and Don being the religious person he is he would never be open that day, or probably any Sunday for that matter. If they move it to a different spot for space reasons I hope they consider making it a two day show. Too much to see in such a short amount of time.
Don
Looks like you had a good time, any Ideas for your next build. Wheel standing Dodge truck you got parked away in the shop.
BradC
Well don, i think i have a way to enjoy the whole museum, and hang with friends. Like i mentioned in the other thread, i like the idea of a meet and greet sorta deal at the museum. im gonna contact garlits and see if we can get a group discount. Then i was thinking of posting on all the forums, and get the word out, im thinking maybe in august. This way we can still get together with friends, and enjoy the museum too. i know ive been wanting to go back for 3 years now, but never get around to it, so if we set this up, it will give people a reason, but not get overwhelmed by a huge car show.
No Brad, but I am going to switch gears a little. All that my '27 needs is freshened up with some new paint, and overhaul of the running gear, and a fresh 302 built for it. I have a 5.0 engine sitting that I can rebuild, so it is a shame to have the car just sitting there collecting dust when I could be getting it back on the street. I parked it almost 8 years ago and have slowly been stealing parts off of it for various projects.
So, I think the Dodge truck will be put on the back burner for a bit and I am going to move the '27 to center stage. I plan to pull the body off and paint it a different color this time, but still not sure what.
I figure I could have the '27 done in time for Turkey Run next November, and it is a little more comfortable highway car than my '23. But you know me, tomorrow the wind may blow from a different direction and I might be thinking about some other project. :o
Don
Hotroddaddy, I just saw your post. Count us in.
I don't know.............everybody here's gotten used to that titty pink color............I think you should leave it!Quote:

Don, I may have the answer to Dan's query about a driveline for a streetable version of the Speed Sport roadster. PM me and I'll tell you my idea...
Too bad you missed the second building. Aside from being full of some very valuable antique cars, it includes the history of how Don & Pat and Ed (Don's brother) got started in the speed shop business.:)
Hotroddaddy, count me in!
Titty pink? Purple? Hmmm... I know! It's Vagina Magenta!
That does it...............the car is going BLACK!!! :p
Don
Come on Don, there are plenty more shades of Chartreuse to chosse from!
Hey Don from your old days playing football, you should still have your leather helmet. That will keep the sun off your head!
BradC
Oh no, back when I played helmets hadn't been invented yet. We used coconut shells hollowed out.
Don
THAT might explain what happened to your hair!!
