I need more storage space(dont we all)I would like to talk to someone who is or was in the building industry or anyone who can help me decide which style building to go with,wood pole frame or steel frame or combo(miracle truss uses steel and wood 2x6 combo frame) I have done some research on internet,they all say they are the best. I would like to get the most building possable,10k-20k budget,I was considering a do-it-yourself kit,what kind of buildings do you guys have?
we just purchased a carport from these guys. It was recommended to me by another member. They seem to have the best prices on the web and so far they have been great to deal with and very helpful. we looked at the carports that they have put up here around town and are very pleased with the construction. you might want to give them a look.

For the budget you have i would lean toward a steel building, pre insulated and built by others, most are not a bad deal! I see your in wisconsin, so i would worry about rot problems with wood. I`m sure you get lots of snow. Metal will rust, but with proper maintance, it should last longer. Plus The heavy steel will handle the snow loads better. If you have any specific structure questions let me know , ill answer to the best of my knowledge, but i dont know snow loads, but i can tell you everything about high wind zones!
My big shop was a steel frame, I loved it!!!! I got one heck of a deal through a contractor pal on a building that had been ordered and then cancelled after the package was put together..... Saved a bunch of money!!!! Friend of mine put one up the same size about 2 months later and his cost about $5K more!!!! Besides learning which type of structure was the best for me, the biggest thing I learned was patience in the shopping process!!!!!!!!
It' hard to beat the steel truss buildings for strength,price,and speed of erecting on site. The only draw back is that they look different,and for that reason get zoned out in a lot of cases. Before you get too far,check with your local government,and see what's acceptable. Hank

My brother-in-law built his own, wood/steel here in Austin MN. He dug down past the frost line (4 feet) and put in wood posts, hooked them together sideways with 2 X 8s, double plates at the top and wood srusses, cladded the whole thing with steel. It was really cheap but really good for storage. PM me back and I'll give you his phone number if interested.

I'm 30 miles up the road from you,, several years ago I went with a Menards polebuilding,, you can build these yourself, a 30'x36' cost around $3600.00 . the woodis treated so don't worry about the rot thing....
