So...4 Years and 500 Posts Later...

I have been thinking about what I might say in this particular posting for the past couple days. Not because of some amazing tid-bit of knowlege that I might actually be able to pass on or gain from this thread; but, simply because of the fact that this particular post marks my 500th.

Now, usually, I'm not really the most sentimental guy you'd ever meet, but when I realized that I was approaching both the 500th posting and hitting the 4 year mark at the same time, it really gave me a moment of pause to reflect on it all.

So, taking a moment to look back, obviously we had fewer members; but, pretty much the same amount of postings a day. A lot of the people that were posting heavily when I first joined, I haven't seen post in a long time. I really don't know if they'll ever post again...:( Some of them, I'm sure wont. That being said, there's also a lot of the folks that were posting on the site "back in the day" which are still posting today. Overall I'd say it's probably about 50/50, which is to say that about 50% of the folks that were posting when I first joined are still posting regularly to this day. We've also gotten a lot of great new members during this time as well and they have shared a tremendous amount of great info over the past four years as well.

Through it all, I've seen rants, jokes, laughs, debates, fights and even some stuff I didn't start or participate in...:LOL: It really has been a great experience.

I don't get here and read and post as often as I like, I have other hobbies, and activities that keep me pretty busy. But, in any event, I want you to all know that it has been a real pleasure to interact with each of you these past 4 years. I want to thank you all for that, as well as all the things I have learned from you, both directly and indirectly. I hope that the next 4 years are just as enjoyable and educational as the last.

I realize that 500 posts in 4 years is, comparatively a pretty abysmal rate. In fact at my current pace, by the time I hit the 1000 post mark, Denny will very likely be up over 25,000...;) :D , gas will probably be in the 5-6 dollar/gallon range...:CRY: , I'll be older and not any better looking, and my Firebird probably still won't be finished...:LOL::CRY:

I also want to this opportunity to thank Brent for all the work he has done and taking the time to maintain the site and keep it up and running for us. Sure there have been a few problems with different servers along the way; but, he's really done a "bang up" job of keeping them going. He's also done an excellent job of keeping the membership dues at a price I can afford...:LOL:

I agree Denny, it is a good group here. I too enjoy the interaction and if it wasn't such a good group, I think I'd probably just not think about coming back after one of my little breaks.

You know Bob, speaking of that, I'm not sure if you live up here anymore, but if you do, or if you just happen to make it back up here one of these days, you'll have to let me buy you a beer sometime and pick your brain on a wide variety of topics.

Very nice thoughts Dutch, and congrats on hitting the big Five oh oh. :)

I'm like you, I wish we heard from more of the silent majority on here. It would be truly nice to hear what is going on in their lives and their builds (or plans to build). I know some of us have been accused of being post ho's, but sometimes when I see things slowing down or someone's post going unanswered I feel the need to say something to maybe stimulate some others to post.

But all forums seem to be the same. A small percentage of the membership does 90 percent of the posting and the others just like to read the threads.

Dutch, I spend more time up here than in Nevada, just depends on my mood. I'd be happy to meet up some time, but on that brain picking thing, that would make for a pretty short meeting.:D

Thanks Don. Hopefully, someday we'll see at least some of those that have left, come back and post again. If it doesn't happen though, I guess that's just the way it goes.
