Internet time - would your project be done?

Since we all here seem to be on this forum and probably others, and since it does take some time to begin a thread or even to post to an existing thread something has to "give". In my case, now that I'm stuck inside and really can't work on my car or even maintain my property (cut the lawn, paint the siding) it really isn't taking time from my car hobby (well, not too much). It is taking time from my honey-do's and home maintenance jobs. But what I would really like to poll is where would you be on your project(car, house or whatever) if you weren't spending your time here on an internet forum site:D .

No question this armchair rodding takes time away that I would be probably using to actually build something. However, all work and no play and all that stuff.

These forums are very addictive, and cheap. :D Aside from the obvious benefits of a vast pool of information and answers, it is just nice to sit down and shoot the breeze with your buddies a little bit every day or so.

Maybe I would be further along and maybe not. It took me 6 years to build my '27 and there was no internet then. Part of the delay was money and part was that I got burned out and would not look at it for months at a time. My current T only took a year and a half, and I was on here constantly. Maybe the forums kept me focused and wanting to keep going?

I think it's a trade off; i find ideas and info on here that I would have had to spend time looking for elsewhere. Having a place where you can daily watch the progress of somebody's project coming together is pretty durn spiffy. And let's face it; part of the enjoyment of building a project is showing each step off to your buds and getting a few kudos for it. When somebody likes something I did and says so, it motivates me to keep working. So you lose a little time here and gain a little there. All things considered, I think you guys help me get it done faster.

Probably about where I'm at now vis a vis the 31 on 32 rails project roadster.

It's a hobby and I treat it as such . . . and . . . since I have the 32 roadster to drive, I don't worry about how much I'm not getting done.

Makes a big difference when you have a hot rod, but I am getting curious as to how the 31 will run and drive.
It's a little different than the 32 in more areas than just looks....

I think of this site as a tool for my all my toys!!!

I agree with Falconvan. This site keeps me motivated. In the old days, I used to have to wait 'til the show season started and go to the local shows to shake the winter off and get motivated to do something. Now, I logon and it is a much more constant motivater.

While I understand that it takes time away from something else, for me, it isn't the building of or working on my projects. More realistically, it takes time away from watching T.V. or working extra at home for free (not on overtime). At least this provides some interaction and is something that still falls under the header of recreation at a very affordable rate.

See, during 3 weeks in the spring, and then from the month of July through the end of Football season, I am rarely on here because of the time I spend prepping for our season, reviewing game film, going over depth charts, game-planning etc. That's a hobby too, and it does eat up time that could be spent working on my stuff, a lot of time. More time than I could have ever imagined. In fact it's more like a 2nd fulltime job that eats up more time than my actual job does, for no pay and sometimes miserable conditions. I won't stop anytime soon though, as I enjoy working with the kids way too much.

I actually need the time spent on here during the winter and early spring to get my mind shifted and re-focused on my "car season" starting in the late spring/early summer. Otherwise, I'd get nothing done on my projects, ever.
