There's a start. Even though I get freeware from UT for virus and anti spyware I bought my own. It's called SpyNoMore and it works really well. It cleaned up stuff that free surfer, spybot, and spywareblaster could not.

Thanks for the reply's.
I do have Gator in my computer, I had it for 6-7yrs, I don't get the pop-ups from it, supposedly they are no longer, I got a e-mail saying that 1 1/2 yrs ago, I use it to store my passwords in it. I think I did something to it, that it gives me a "failed to start" but it works normal.
I had a spyware virus about a yr ago when my anti-virus expired. I have "PC-cillin" anti-virus in it since, and I also have Comcast anti-virus & spyware protection. I also forgot to tell you, that a few months after we got the wifes computer, her disc drive quit, so I pulled mine and put it in hers, and hers in mine.
to see if it would work, mine worked in hers, but hers didn't work in mine. But! ever since then I have to hit F1 to get it to start up. (about 2yrs now
) But now the other drive won't work. I don't know when it quit, I don't use it much. (Whats back up? reverse?
) jk I have another drive sitting here now to replace the bad one.
I didn't get the "C:\Proga~1\newdot~\newdot~1.dll - error loading, could not be found, insert systems disc to fix." till I got the spyware, I think I deleted something I wasn't suppose to!
when I was getting rid of some spyware, and now my drive won't work.
I don't know what is with the printer, But ! I did make a discovery!!! Don't ever put a printer by baseboard heat! I killed two pricey printers before I realized i dried the guts shut!
I think I need to junk the printers I have (got it free from my brother) and buy a new one.
I will go to the Dell site and have a look around.
I can run my computers, I don't know how to troubleshoot them.
My lug wrench won't fit anywhere, and aircleaner keeps falling off!
We did a cat scan to it, found and removed the cat. It didn't help!

That PC of yours is about the same vintage of my old one. The hard drive got so corrupted that nothing I did fixed it - so I built a new computer in December with a little (LOTS!!) of help from my friends here - Denny, mostly. With a couple of aches and pains, it is working so much better then the old one. It will start and I can be on line in about a minute. The final cost, using premium parts and even with a new 19" monitor, a sound card and a graphics card was about $700. The sound and graphics cards were actually not needed as the new motherboard had integrated versions. When I was done with the new one, I 'fixed' the old Dell with a new $60 Western Digital Caviar 80 GB hard drive, reloaded XP plus a few other programs and gave it to my daughter in Virginia. She is now on line with it and says that it is very fast and working great. I would imagine the cat scan took care of any mouse problems but not hairballs in the hard driveLast edited by IC2; 02-15-2008 at 02:36 PM.

From the web - everything I read points to SpyWare.
One link says to uninstall 'NewDotNet' from the control panel/add remove programs utility.
If you can Google, search for "newdot dll" for more suggestions to get rid of it.
this from Error message when starting XP, NEWDOT~2.DLL - Viruses, Spyware and other Nasties.
I recognize that file, it's NewDotNet.dll, spyware that used to get installed with Kazaa and Morphius, (might still be there, too). It was a way to redirect IP addresses to URL's that weren't legitimate URL's, (for example, you could have a URL like www.blah.frank, even though .frank is not a real root domain). It supposedly tracks your surfing habits, as well. There is no limit to what a man can do . . . if he doesn't mind who gets the credit. (Ronald Reagan)
