EDIT 8/2/10 Okay, I'm in a polling kind of mood right now. Here's one I did for a particular purpose a couple years ago, and the results were what I expected. Since we've had to new faces roll in lets see if they have more to add.
Okay, some of you are responding to the poll about computers, now let's see just how enthralled with electronic innovations you've been. Same time frame, some other devices. Same deal, read carefully and choose the one that most matches what you did.

Of course I have many of the electronic/digital toys: PCs, digital cameras, cell phone(though seldom used) DVDs, CD, VCRs, MP3 player,digital picture frames, fly-by-wire truck, microwave, bread maker just to name a few
I wont have a Blackberry/PDA, beeper or Blue Tooth or similar- simply because I WILL NOT be that connected when out of the house

CD player and cell phone.................before 2000......I love the cd player (outdated now) .and the cell phone is OK...until it rings....if you have kids, you know why.......................
Why 1990 and 2000? Why not other dates as well. Seems a little restrictive.

Cell Phone: About 1983 I guess. Had one of the early models mounted in a briefcase. Cost $2500 and $1.50/minute. Second one was a Motorola bag phone, cost about $500, .60 per minute. Glad someone finally shrunk the damn things.
Digital Camera: First one I owned was in 2001. Used Canon SLR's film cameras until then. Now I use a digital Nikon SLR, but still use film.
CD Players: In computers about 1989, then portables about 1995, and first one in a car about 1997.
DVD Players: About 2003 for computer, home and portable.
Now getting ready to move on to Blu-Ray and HD DVD. Life as a techno-geek can be hell at times.
Yeah guilty again. I started using a cd player in '91 and a cell phone in '96. I held off on the others until 2001.

Out of pure curiousity, once you're finished collecting the data, would you be willing to share the results as it relates to your previously mentioned theory? I have my own thoughts regarding the data shown in the polls and am just curious if my theory is even remotely close to yours.

In time, I don't want to potentially skew the results. I'd be happy to hear what you get from it, might be another view I didn't consider.

Our first "small" cell phone was in about '95; we had a bag phone in '88 or '89, carried it in the car all the time as we spent a lot of time traveling on the highways, either alone or together, and felt it was a useful emergency device. Got our first CD player in '97, DVD in '02. Digital camera came along in about '03 or '04.

I got into CD's in the mid 90's when it became obvious that they were going to replace cassettes. I don't think they really took off until the Beatles albums were reintroduced on CD.
I got my first cell phone in 98 and I consider them to be nothing more than a necessary evil.
got my cell phone last year .. got my cd player 5 years ago when i got my home computor so as to create my own cd`s .. i still use vcr tapes .. have no dvd player ..
I didn't have any off this stuff until after 2000........ted

no cell phones...just cd and dvd.i'm still stuck in the past.hell i only have a vhs deck because it has a dvd recorder with nit.i use betamax's still great picture and they never seem to break.
