Biggest overnight snowfall in 83 years--

So here we are, about a week after Don posts his pictures of a beautifull blonde at the beach in florida with his beautifull hotrod----This past Thursday night it snowed 16 1/4" in Barrie!!! The last time we got this much snow overnight was in 1895!!! I want Don to adopt me!!!---Brian

Strangely enough, it is a result of global warming. The summers are so warm here now, and the early fall, that none of the lakes freeze over untill very late into the winter, and some not even then. There is so much moisture released into the air off the great lakes and Georgian Bay, and Lake Simcoe, because of no ice cover, that we get crazy snowfalls as a result.

Ya know, all kidding aside, I couldn't go back to that kind of weather if my life depended on it. I honestly hate being cold and falling down on my butt on ice and snow. My Ex loved walking in the snow, but she had to hold me up, I have no sense of balance. :o As many flaws as Florida has (low pay rates, overcrowding, etc) I still couldn't bring myself to leave the weather here.

One thing Brian, you should have lots of garage time in by the time things thaw out this Spring. :D :D

Yeah, hurricanes are a concern, that's for sure. But wherever I've lived we had some natural disaster waiting to nail us. California has it's earthquakes, the midwest has it's tornados, parts of Washington has volcanos, etc. You just have to pick your poison. :LOL:

For years we paid no attention to hurricanes, then along came Charlie! :eek: I still have canned SPAM and candles in the cupboard from that little bit of excitement. I remember looking out through the slits on our lanai's hurricane shudders watching my boat rock and roll in the canal behind our house. It was a very sobering experience.

Been cold here the last few weeks, mid 20's, not like Canada and the colder climes of the US, but kinda chilly.

Today and the next few days will be in the low to mid 60's.
Not bragging or picking on you, just kinda weird, usually takes longer to warm up cuz most times February is still chilly.

At least I can still drive the roadster in 25 degree F weather.
Cross-town to the donut run anyway.

At least I don't have to contend with snow although we get a little bit a couple times a year.

If it gets really cold I can turn on the heater.

Meant to mention that it looks like Global Cooling is on the way since the sun is being quite calm now.

I agree with Don. I moved here from Indiana 27 years ago. I would not move back north for any conceivable reason. Yes, it gets hot here in July and August, but it was not uncommon to have 98 - 100 degree temps in Indy during those months. At least here we always have a breeze.;)

I've had people ask me,"Don't you miss the change of seasons?" My answer, "Hell no!" I used to spend 9 months of the year waiting for Summer to come around again; now I live where Summer lasts 10 months of the year and the other two months are a combination of Spring and Fall.:D :D :D

Right now is a good time to buy a home here; the real estate market is on its ass and properties are selling under their appraised values...:rolleyes:
