Old plates {time sensitive}

If you see any california plates with com on theleft side grab them. They are worth gold, quite litteraly. Very hard to find matched sets for the ww2 and just after war years! Pairs are very valuable for california, as you need a pair, to register them for use on a old car. Any little metal year tabs are very valuable too. 1945 and 1946 they only made single plates, so grab singles of those. Here is a web site with a ton of info they may be helpfull.

Wow, thats incredible! Not very often you see something like that. I wonder where/how they got all those plates in the first place? Anyway, have fun prying them off...hope you can make some big $$$

Call me very doubtful! I've been through the California YOM (Year of Manufacture) a few times on several different cars.

Here's a few things to consider before you go to the bank. First, your only interested in PAIRS, unless it's something special like the World's Fair plate. Second, they have to be serviceable. That means in GOOD condition all of the nail holes would make these questionable to your average DMV counter person. With the house paint and rust, forget it unless they are restored and you would still need to find the correct year corner tag or sticker. Third, just because you have a PAIR, in GOOD condition, still does not automatically qualify for this program. Since they have reused the number and letter sequence many times over the years, and some cars keep the same license number for decades you have to find a number that has been unregistered (dormant) for the past 36 months. They have many other rules as well like 1965 model year was the last year you can apply for the YOM program. I'd rather go to the dentist, THAN THE DMV!

some of the plates shawn found are pretty special, 1932 california worlds fair, plates with special designation for press and police plates. id say thats a one in a life time find, just make sure ya kick your bro down some cash for helping your sort and clean them plates. whats more interesting is the history behind where that house was buit, looking at the plates it was built around 1941 or 1942. the area where that house is located is known as oil country, back in the depression of 30's oil country brought alot of out of towners in and thus house's were built to shelter the workers that migrated to oil country. my best guess is the original owner felt it would be cheaper to recycle plates then buy tons of material that would of surely rotted by now.

amasing inded .. there is a barn near me with old tags covering one side .. the owner guards it like a hawk though ..

Get the friggin plates. They can be repainted to correct colors and that's legal in most states. I have repainted year of manufacture plates on my car in California. But yeah pairs are needed to be sellable.

ofcourse the contractor got the cream of the crop, i was talking to him today and he found pairs of original plates in good condition, the one shawnlee manage to get will need to be refurbished for sure.
