Trophy ideas.
Some of you on other boards might know i signed up for making a couple of the trophies for the upcoming billetproof show in fla. i have one just about done, but im having trouble with ideas for the second. I was hoping some of you might help me out with a direction:D The trophy is for best interior, the one i have done is for best primer. My original idea was to make a small bench seat, like one you would find in an old 50`s rod, but i do not have the skills needed to pull that one off effectivly. Any ideas guys and gals?

How about some big needles and a spool of thread or two? You could even make some of the needles if you wanted them to be fatter and longer by using some aluminum round rods and grinding them to shape.

Great idea about the darning needles Denny...........I never gave those a thought.

I seem to remember seeing a display at an auto parts store for seat covers, and it was a small seat, like like 2 feet wide if that, but i cant remember when.
I like your thinking don, you see where my thoughts are going for this.

For a billetproof deal I'd suggest you get some thin sheet aluminum (flashing at HD or Lowes comes in a nice brushed finish). With some judicious trimming you could make a nice little bomber style seat. If you wanted to get real carried away, take a router bit of the correct scale and make a die to stamp in some ribs, wood dies would be fine for one or two uses. Even further down the trail you could make some small rivet heads, or look at a craft store for ready made stuff. Glue them on.

i was looking like them dudes had all the trophys covered now they got you making more ?? :D

John, here are a few to inspire you a little. I would rather win one of these homemade ones than the usual plastic "bowling" variety most shows give out.

Well, if we're gonna keep rollin', here's one I've put up before, simple but elegant. And I've got a box with some ol' flatty pistons somewhere around here if you want some.

I've got some old stuff too John, like rusted out headlight buckets, etc. (with good old patina) Let me know if you need anything.

The paint one is kinda like the one i made for another show, but i used a spray can painted black, with some pinstriping on it. The reason i made the one at top like that cause i thought it was kinda funny to add a custom trophy mixed with its cheezy plastic counterpart. I better get moving on this, im running out of time real quick!! You and your boys gonna make it for this show Don?
Thanks for the inspiration and the parts offers guys i appreciate it.

Just a thought, I haven't been to an upholstery shop in quite a few years, but years ago, they used to have miniature seats, probably like 1/4 scale, to show samples. Some of the guys here might remember. Might want to check with one in your area.

Forgot the rest..... then you could put together a small interior with dash, steering , wheel shifter etc.
