Build a SB Gasser 2700 lbs with a 411 it will go low 12s
this is true, but i want a big block alright? i got the chance to build my dream car not anybody else so its gonna be done the way i want it:D <but yes if i dont bbc it its gonna have another 301  >
Thats cool but look at this 1955 Chevy 331 Gasser .
i am just very picky i guess, i wanted to do it somewhat era correct and yes a 301/327 or a 427/454 is what im after but id like to run a big block never have gotten the chance and the chance is now! so i am going for it. and i love that car!
I like the headers . Are you going to run headers like that ?
yes a set of white fenderwell's are mandatory! as well as the 4-6 foot long yellow ladder bars and painting the rear drums yellow! :D course im doing a 63 nova up so itll have its own flair, theres a bunch on www.gassermadness.com under visitors rides under "and many more" <novas> theres a sections for fords and tri 5's to
Now you have me thinking about building one of them ! COOL
if i had the $ id do a tri 5 but this nova was a steal at 1500. i have faith in pat , erick, and anybody who is willing to help me on here. i try my best to help out when i can and i apprc. the returning in favors.
what you want to do is not that hard i used a 330 and 411 gears in cars that were at 3500+ with a very mild 454 flat top pump gas O ports stock tires and have gone in the low to mild 12.s with very bad 60 at the track so with good tires and a car that is 1000 lighter your there
awesome. the reason i wanted 373's is because they are somewhat good for the track and decent on the highway, thanks for the help so far guys ive been taking notes:D found a couple 454's floating around any particular casting # to get or stay away from? and what about heads, down erick down!
well that why we had 330to411 my friend and i would drive the cars over30 miles one way to the track:DQuote:

mid low 12's is a completely different animal than mid low 11's... not so hard 9.5-10:1 427 solid cam (~240@.050 ?) iron oval ports 2700lb car gets you there.... 3.73's + tunnel ram = slug off the line. With the tall gear you'll want more low end that you won't get with a ram :whacked: But still, even slow out of the gate you should get well in to the 12's
How good are the newer 454 engines for a build up . The ones that had the EFI Stuff ? We have Some 8100 Vortec GM engines in some of the new trucks . The paper work on them says they are 496s with 375 HP . You can pull off the EFI stuff and install a bigger roller cam and change over to a carb set up right ? I do think the 1990s 454s will be cheaper and easyer to find .
It will cost more but I think the answer is to go mech. roller cam.Quote:

Try to keep the lift at or under .675, 108 L/S.
