Ain't that the truth!!!! I started school in 52 and graduated high school in 64. My first 6 years in school were in a two room school taught by two teachers who cared about each child and what that child should learn. We learned all the good stuff like reading, writing, math, science, history, spelling, speaking, penmanship, etc. Those who didn't get a passing grade had to stay behind and do it again (none of us had to because our parents wouldn't stand for any failures). We who grew up in the '50's and '60's probably saw the best times that any generation had available to them.
Today kids are pushed out of schools to make room for the next group, regardless if they can read and write or anything else.
Every year since the mid-70's, the educational system has gone to hell a little further. Even the "well educated" kids today don't know crap about American history. They either didn't pay attention or the teachers didn't bother to teach it. Most can't speak intelligently, and very few can count past 10. Few would be able to add if it weren't for their fingers or the calculators built into their cell phones.
It irritates me to no end, when the re-visionists begin to talk about our history. They only see it from their narrow minded point of view. Nearly all of the highly overpaid college professors are liberals who refuse to tolerate any student who has a conservative bent. It is sad when truth about the righteous deeds of our great country are trumped by tainted opinion.
I agree with Hoss429, I am glad I won't be around for the final dumbing down of this once great society.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!
