back from Hospital

Don't know if anyones ever had Minears Disease before but I've had it for 32 years and it makes your ears ring and you become dizzy. Well for the last 6-7 weeks I've had it so bad that I've been in and out of the hospital so many times I can't think straight. All you can do is stare straight ahead and not move your head. If you do the room starts spinning and belive me you are sick for hrs. at a time and all you wish for is death. Not a big guy anyways and went in at 170 and down to 150 because I cannot eat. Hopefully it's stopped now but if it comes back they will cut my nerve to my middle ear to stop the spinning but that will also make me deaf in that ear but I think it's worth it.:(

Ummmm, so sorry to hear that. I hope some of the stuff they are doing is doing the job, but if you have to undergo the ear operation, that would be better than what you have been going through. My ex-wife is a Nurse, and has been deaf in one ear since she was about 12 due to a severe ear infection. It never really affected her life, so it won't be as bad as you might think.

God put together a pretty good plan, that's why he supplied us with 2 of most of the parts we need to survive, I guess. I wish you well. :) :) :) :)

Bummer Chevy. So sorry to hear about this, but I am glad you are back home, and doing better. Prayers out to you for remarkale improvement on your codition.

Hey Bart, hang tough buddy. At first it sounded like the tintinitis that many of us suffer from, but as I read further what you've got is much worse. If cutting the nerve is really the solution ya gotta do what ya gotta do, but you might want to get a second opinion too.

As for the weight thing, some ice cream, and ding-dongs, washed down with beer should help. Would help your spirits too!:D

Bob, I also suffer from tintinitus, and just the other day I saw an ad on TV for an across the counter medicine you can get at CVS (and probably others) to help relieve it. In case some of you don't recognize the term, it is a ringing in the ears.

Just thought I'd insert that here, and I am going to pick up some of that medicine to try.

geez, Chevy, I am so sorry to hear about that. I hope you can over come it soon. Hnag in there man. YKou know we care about ya.

I have Tinitus too and worried when it started that it was Minears, because mine came on accompanied by a series of severe dizzy spells usually when I laid down at night (no it was not caused by Jack Daniels, nor did hanging a foot on the floor help:LOL: ). Luckily my doc said it was not Minears. It started about 6 years ago in one ear and is now in both. My father has the same thing. Mine sounds like air leaking from a leaky air compressor fitting 24/7. Doc says theres no cure. The brain copes though and when busy I can usually block it out. I do find myself saying huh? a lot though especially to my wife. Drives me crazy. You have to listen to everything through the background of that hissing.

You young guys out there take care of your hearing!!! Make sure you wear hearing protection because in my case this comes from a lifetime of working in or near loud areas, jet engines, air tools, loud music, 12 gauge shotguns etc. Use those little foam ear plugs! They are great.

Well, being deaf in one ear does have it's advantages!!! When "someone" is talking and you don't want to hear it, just turn the bad ear to them!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Thanks guys, it's good to be back. The Doctor I'm seeing( no more because he's a quack) gave me some medicine and the first thing I asked him would it upset my stomach as I've had half of mine removed from havingunclers. He said no but when I picked the medicine up the druggist said it would upset my stomach. Took some and guess what:CRY: made me sick. Mine started from being hit in the head to much from boxing and having a good friend of mine just about shoot my ear off with a 12 gauge shotgun while hunting(yep he still my friend) as long as he keeps bringing beer. It's no fun being dizzy and having your ear buzzing but I try not to think about it and it usually works except the last 7 weeks has been hell. Went to work today and was up on a ladder painting a classroom when the room started spinning. Took hold of that ladder and had my buddy help me down. Had to keep my head perfectly still for about 10 minutes and was able to continue painting. It seems to start up whenever I look up or down and guess that means no looking down a girls bikini top:LOL:

Too much beer makes me dizzy, so maybe it will have the opposite affect on you, since you are already dizzy:LOL: .
Stay off that ladder. That doesn't sound like the cool move of the week to me. Hope you will be much better very soon, and hey try my prescription, might work:D

All my life (and I've gone through a lot of calendars) I have had tinnitis. Ringing, shrill whistling/squealing sounds, etc. For many years I thought it was normal and everybody had it. I guess I have pretty much adjusted to it, but, dang, man, your problems make me ashamed to mention mine.

I usually blame mine on noisy machinery and sitting behind the headers on the roadster.

Or maybe I'm just weird.

Anyway, my best, and hang in there.
