Naming cars
I was thinking about doing this thread anyways , but then i saw techs post in the 57 thread, and he had stated that people named their cars back then, so my ? is do you guys name your cars? my wife always names her cars, is this common? Ihave named the merc beatrice, i thought it was fitting, how about you guys, have any names?

Oh sure, my Ex named all of my cars. They were all called "THAT D*** CAR."
She had other names too, but I don't have enough asterisks to post some of those.

I named my '68 Suburban "Louie" in honor of Louis Chevrolet. It's kind of funny now, that almost 30 years later, they still call it "Louie". :-)
BTW, It's 4 sale. (sigh)

Naming cars was a big thing when I was in high school. The two that I remember most was a '51/'52 Chevy named the "Grey Ghost" and a '54 Chevy with the character leaning on the lamppost twirling a watch chain from Mad magazine painted in the lower right hand corner of the trunk lid. The guy named it T#*t Twiddler.

We had a '55 Pontiac 2-door post running around......no front bumper (as was the style).....flat black..... and on the trunk was "Beaver Patrol #1". LOL!

I don't know about the Merc, Dave, but I think I'm going to paint "Money Pit" on the tailgate of the F-100.

Back in the 50's and 60's, a lot of guys named their everyday drivers. Copying the racers, I guess.
My '52 Chevy with a Corvette 6 cyl was "Poison Ivy" until I got rid of the ugly green and painted it blue. Yeah, corny, I know . . . but I was sixteen. When it went blue, it went nameless.Jack
