Sounds like you had a good trip and got to see some old school mates, that's always fun doing the trip on memory lane.
I remember seeing the car(s) being dug up, there was 2 of them wasn't there? Or maybe my memory is fuzzy.. LOL
I had created a group on facebook for my graduating class and we are up to 14 members, it's been 44 years for us and we're talking about having our own re-union this fall. Should be fun I think.
Sounds like a great trip Mike and glad to hear the Plymouth performed so well! Could it be that you missed your 20 mpg goal because it's just so damn kewl to hear those dual fours suckin' air when you nail the loud pedal? LOL, I know that would have been an issue with me driving anything with dual quads! Thanks for the pics and the update on the buried Belvedere!
Great trip, Mike! Thanks for posting!
Very cool; I remember the unveiling after they opened the capsule. Very depressing; I really wanted to see a dirty but near perfect 57 Plymouth come out of that hole.
Wow Pat GREAT to see you on here again! When I was looking thru this old thread it hit me that there are several posts from people I miss that are no longer on the board. You definitely being one of them.

Sort of Mike. They did the 57 underground. In 1998 Tulsa did it again and “buried” a Prowler. It’s to be exhumed in 2048.

Dave accelerating just for the sake of accelerating would just be wrong……Now there are certain driving situations where a person would need to accelerate rapidly in order to safely pass a slower vehicle, in those cases it would be perfectly acceptable. That being said I was absolutely amazed how many times such situations arose on this trip. ;)

Yeah, me too. I wasn’t really surprised though. I made a comment on another forum prior to it being dug up when people were guessing what it would look like. My comment was “Did you ever see a basement that DIDN’T leak? ”
