This Might Be Crazy........but

We've talked on the forum about that 1957 Plymouth that is buried in Tulsa, Ok. It is going to be dug up in June of 2007, and supposedly is going to be a big deal, and a lot of people from around the country have expressed interest in going. Are any of us going?

I am starting to entertain thoughts of going there via one of my rods, and wondered if anyone else would like to like to join the cruise and sort of create a "mini-Americruise ?" From here it is about 1500 miles, and we could coordinate it so we pick up member cars along the route. I have only flown into Oklahoma on business, years ago, so it would be kind of cool to drive there.

Obviously, since I just thought of this idea, I have no solid ideas yet, but just thought I would throw it out to see if anyone else wants to spend their vacation driving across America.

I am tenatively in...depends on how my boat's running (my biscayne), and what life will be like in June since I will have a 2 1/2 month old baby by then...

Plus my wife makes all the decisions...:D well, not ALL of the decisions...she didnt tell me what kind of cam to put in my motor or what type of carb to use...:whacked:

My birthday is June 12th, a wonderful present to myself this would be! We'll load up the teardrop trailer, hop in the coupe, and hopefully cruise up to Tulsa for this event! Would make an awesome roadtrip!

Oh man, I like the idea of a teardrop trailer. Think I'll build one and pull it behind my '39 Dodge for the trip. Extra tools, etc could fit in there.

I just popped this into Mapquest. Oklahoma really isn't all that far. About 20 hours from me, and I'm pretty deep into Florida. This could be a nice little drive for us all.

Main reason for the teardrop is to have a place to fancibly haul around a spare 33x22.5x15 Mickey Thompson sportsman pro tire (mounted on a Weld Draglite), plus last time we went that way (went to Texas to pick up the Coupe), we got to Roswell, NM at like 11:30pm on July 3rd, and they had NO vacancy ANYWHERE, we slept in the truck that night at a truck stop, very uncomfortable. We're still deciding if we want to build a teardrop or buy one.

Mapquest says it'll take around 23 hours for me to get there (thats with stops in Phoenix and Tucson to visit family), of course, they're assuming im going to be driving a slow 70mph the whole time.;)

So there could be two or more groups traveling to Tulsa? Some heading West, and some going East.

That would be really cool to meet up there.


The more I drink, the better this idea seems. :LOL: KIDDING, JUST KIDDING.

We can all stay at 65Cayne's place, (he is closer to Tulsa than I am by at least 15 minutes) he says his wife makes all the decisions, she can decide what to feed us too. :D :D :D :D

I used to have a link that actually had some footage of the car being buried but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

As far as room information, I've used the information from the Forwardlook site,

There are a few people staying a Stroud and a lot staying at the Double Tree (about a 1 1/2 blocks from the site), and there May still be a few rooms available there.

The car itself is supposed to be dug up on the 15th (Fri) and I've recently saw a post indicating that there will be an all makes car show somewhere on the 16th.

Personally, I'll be leaving here on 12 or 13 and arriving on the 14th and staying through till Sun morning sometime then heading to Illinois to visit family.

I'm hearing rumblings that this may be a bigger event than Tulsa expects, besides the Forward Look and Plymouth Owners/Chrysler Owners clubs, there going to be pretty good contingents from the 300 Club and Prowlers club......and just a bunch of car people. I've even read some posts from a couple of guys in Europe that are planning on shipping there cars back from Europe just so they can drive them too it and at least a few coming in from Australia. Personally I hope (and suspect I will) see a lot of ALL makes there.

If your real young and can't make this one, I guess you can always wait till 2048 and watch them dig up the Prowler Tulsa buried in 1998, **) for me anyway this should be a once in a lifetime event.
