Road Rage

What I can't figure out is, what the h*** do they have so much to talk about?? Everyplace I go now all these people have a phone stuck to their ear.

I'm in a line at Autozone one day and this lady in the line next to me is having a heated conversation with somebody, and she acts like there is no one within 100 miles of her. She keeps yelling "get a life, d*** it, get a life !!!" People are looking at her like shes nuts, but she is totally oblivious to it all.

Another time my ex-girlfriend and I went to a nice restaurant in St. Armonds Circle, and we requested the balcony tables that overlook the street. It is on the second floor and there are only two tables out there. We are having a nice, quiet, romantic dinner, and here comes this guy out there to talk to somebody on his cell phone. He stands right by our table and gets into the lengthy debate. Finally, I say "hey Bud, we came out here to get away from people like you, would you mind taking your conversation inside the bar?" He left, but acted like I was the wrong one.

Cell phones are the worst thing ever invented IMO.

Man I almost hate to admit this one. Last night my daughter came back from going to a wedding with her mom (I managed to dodge the bullet on that one) anyway she thinks she has low tire so I tell her to pull the car over by the garage and I'll check. It was after dark, but I had the big yard light on. Anyway, I get done, she climbs into her car picks up her cell phone calls someone on speed dial puts the car in reverse and darn near backed into the iron pile (would have if I hadn't yelled). I "talked" to her about it something along the lines of what in the....were you thinking?????

Like that did a lot of good.

Cell phones like a lot of modern gadgets make people busier doing nothing.

I just acted politely and said I apologize for whatever I did to upset him and after about a minute of yelling he goes back to his car and speeds off. I still don't know to this day what his problem was.

What back roads were these at? I get a lot of idiots around here that don't know how to merge onto freeways and then when there is traffic I get the a**holes that wont let you onto the freeway and I swerve away and then towards then REAL hard and scare the hell out of them and get in. :D I saw the other day a lady reading a book while drive with a passenger in the back seat. Guess what the passenger was doing? Reading the newspaper!!! Idiots, they drive slow, can't merge onto a freeway, ride on your ass and get pissed wondering why you just slammed on the brakes on them. Keep a 357 Magnum under the seat next time guys, that way when they come to your window you pull it out and their eyes get big and they scream like little girls. :D

I just looked at her smiled closed my eyes and blew her a kiss. That sent her into over the top. She rolled down her window and started screaming something. I just sat there with an oblivious look on my face, waited for my arrow and made my turn. She was still screaming when I made my turn.

Just what the hell is wrong with people nowadays?

While Im not condoning road rage, I have to say that IMO you were in the wrong on the first count by riding in the left lane and not getting over fast enough for the other car to pass. If you're gonna cruise in the left lane stay aware of whats coming up behind you and get the heck outta the way quickly! I dont care how fast you are going, if the other guy is going faster get outta the way, plain and simple!

As for the lady cussing you out a giving you the finger, this makes me tend to believe you seem to be driving oblivious to your surroundings! If you cant tell me why she was going nutcakes on you, you really need to start paying attention to your driving habits! People for the most part dont start screaming and cursing strangers for no reason!:HMMM: I think oblivious or non caring drivers are whats wrong with people nowadays!

My first cell phone came built into a briefcase and cost over $2500.:eek: Maybe they should still be that way and cost the same or more. They are a valuable tool for those in need. Perhaps the auto companies can build them in to their dashes in the cars and have them only activated for emergency calls. Not a day goes by when I don't see someone doing 85 in a 60 mph zone either on the phone or eating a burger. Biggest problem is that they were all born 30 years after me and didn't get any common sense when it was being handed out.:LOL: :LOL:

Jeez. Take a chill pill fella. I said there werent any other cars around me that morning and I didn't move over because she was driving so fast I didn't know what she was going to do. I've ridden motorcycles for 35 years and believe me I know what and who is around me when I'm on the road.

This may not be classified as "road rage" ....... then again, maybe it would, except that I was the one that got enraged.

Last Summer my wife and I blew the monthly budget on tickets to a musical production and drove to Fort Worth to take it in. Traffic on I-35W was fairly heavy and a little slow. We came alongside a new Buick with a fortyish lady driving alone. I glanced over and saw that she was driving with her left hand and had a long cigarette between her first two fingers, so she was holding the steering wheel with her thumb and little finger and the one next to it, and she was holding one of those "Big Gulp" king-size drink cups in her right hand!

As we started passing her I started delivering a loud, profane speech about what a dim-wit she must be. Then my wife told me "If you think that's bad, take another look!"

She had a cell phone tucked under her chin and was yakking away.

That's scary.

Sorry, but I dont need to chill....Im just making a comment about your inattentive driving habits. It may be time for you to take a good look at some of your bad driving habits. Since you saw them to late, (I assume meaning you would have moved sooner) I guess you didnt know what or who was around you. Anyways, this mourning on the local news paper they had a article about the I-485 freeway and ricers and Mustangs racing doing 165 MPH. 11 people doing this and got caught. Idiots like that are why people get killed and I hope they get in big trouble and if they do it again then maybe a fatal crash will teach them a lesson.

I've got to admit, one of my pet peaves is people who just loaf along in the left lane. I was taught to pass and get over and be courteous to the other drivers who want to pass. Living in Florida we get drivers from every other State, and certain license plates have the habit of treating it like it is just another lane.

I think some people do it to show you that they are going to control the speed limit. I do drive a little fast (when your 37 year old Sons, who drive fast themselves tell you that you better watch it, you probably drive too fast :3dSMILE: :3dSMILE: ) so I will sit behind them for a few minutes, and if they still refuse to get over I pass them on the right, and then I go back to the left lane. However, sometimes my back bumper cuts a little too close to their front bumper as I re-enter that lane. :cool: :cool: Then, some of them get the point and move over to let others past. Sometimes I look in the mirror, and see several other cars do exactly what I did. That usually motivates them to move over.

high beams used to make me insane. I got over it somehow, but I'm still quick to flash them back.

speeding up in the passing lane after driving 5 MPH under the limit for 5 miles still irkes me good.

When, upon reaching the passing lane, the car in front of me takes the left hand lane, THEN DOESN'T PASS. Ohh, that one BURNS me good.

Tailgaters make me nervous. Luckily, most people seem to give me a little more lead room when I'm on the Indian ( maybe the loud pipe? )

Don, Driving in Florida will reduce anyone's life line. I used to like driving on 75 but now only take 301. I don't mine driving fast (80+) as I do it every day on my work commute (when there is not a backup), but people on I75 (regardless of state plate) are just plain crazy. :whacked: They think nothing of doing 95mph while talking on their cells and changing lanes at a rate of 1 lane change every 20 seconds. I would rather deal with the cops on speedtrap alley (301 from I10 to Ocala and beyond). I am sure it is no better in your neck of the swamp.:D

Wednesday afternoon (3/4/2007) on my way home from work I was southbound on this same highway driving in the right lane when a black Chrysler Aspen SUV exactly like this one passed me. I had my cruise set at 75 mph and this thing came around me like I was standing still. I looked over as it went by and noticed the driver- a woman- was dialing or texting a cell phone. Coincidence?

I know we all get irritated on the road because of rudeness and poor driving skills of those around us. We have a case here before the county attorny's office makes ya think about counting to ten before reacting. A guy in his thirties was driving down a six lane two way street when an inattentive man in his mid seventies cut him off right before the redlight that turned red in time to make them come to a stop. Words were exchanged, tempers got heated and the elder gentleman got out of the car to confront (bad idea). He was carrying a shiny object in his hand. The younger gentleman got out quickly and punched him hard enough to knock him to the ground and he hit his head hard enough to knock him out. He never regained conscienceness and died in a comma a few days later in a coma. Now the county prosecuters are trying to mount a case of manslaughter becuase the shiny obect was a pair of silver pens the older gentleman was holding. Hhhmmmmm.........wouldn't have been better to just flip each other off? Maybe. I get mad too but I have learned from others mistakes that I have to bite my tongue and stand back and watch the accident from behind because I know they're gonna cause one. I even removed my pistols from the vehicles because of the implications that I could face if anything goes wrong.

Don, I believe that you are probably right if that happened in many states, but I believe that in Texas they might not be so understanding. She ought to be put away for a long time.

I'd like to say a big, special thanks to a moron who helped to ruin my day. I was driving from my house to Morisset to meet my girlfriend on the train.

I entered the highway at the Toronto exit, right beside you, Ms Moron in a Mazda RX8, while you were chatting on you mobile phone, doing 100k's in the right hand lane.

I patiently sat at 100k's behind a 4WD Toyota, thinking you would accelerate by, so I could do the same.

Eventually, you accelerated enough to let me pull in behind you. Then you slowed to 100 again. Must be hard maintaining a constant speed in a new sports vehicle with cruise hey.

For the next 5 km's you speed up, until you were level with a car, then slowed to whatever speed they were doing. You totally ignored the fact that there was a left hand lane, as well as the string of traffic you were holding up by sitting in the right hand lane.

Oh, and when your in the RIGHT HAND LANE, doing 100 in a 110 ZONE and some one flashes their lights, its a polite way of saying GET THE FRIDGE OUT OF MY WAY.

I followed you all the way to Morisset, you doing your best to keep me and a gang of others behind you. Luckily, a considerate motorist saw what you were doing and pulled onto the shoulder, so cars could drive past you. Thanks for that, Mr Porsche Boxter, you have to allow for morons everywhere. I might say, that Ms RX8 drove side by side with him for around 8km's. The Porsche changed speeds from 90-120ish k's so you werent beside him, but you didnt get it, did you?

Anyway, it was my time to exit the highway, with you in your car still in the right lane, holding everyone up, but, just remember, you have vanity plates!! Makes them very easy for people to remember and to report you to the Police. Which is what I did. The nice copper said he'd give you a call and tell you to wake up to yourself.

You are one of the most inconsiderate idiots I have met. One person totally ruined a trip on the highway, which I should have been able to set cruise, drive on and off the highway in about 15 mins. Instead, I get a headache, take longer to get there and put me in a foul mood.

My whinge is over, but feel free to tell the story of your own moron who spoilt your day.

I will swap you for the class act that i met between Tamworth and Armidale.
Now this is a piece of work.
Mr ea wagon with QLD no. plates was doing his best to gain a country mile. When we 1st saw him he was about to pull out infront of a land cruiser [1st heart stopping moment] he didn't have the smooth driving ability of a late model commodore ie go up a hill at the same speed,so he was easily out paced by me and mr silver vt who i was travelling behind.but not tailgating,[50m]+
[at a safe pace]we were doing on average just under 110.
whenst coming into uralla we slow to a pace that was antisipating the 60 zone when i look out the rear view and hear comes >>DI**HEAD<< doing 120+ crosses double yellows in front of a oncoming car and realizes where the frig he is and brakes hard to slide in behind the silver holden very close to raming him only to do a u-turn in front of me in town.

QLD drivers in chit-box cars are always the ones that i am faced with when it comes to the "what the hell is this moron doing ,trying to kill someone experience".
NEVER FAILS.

Yeah she would probably win that one too. That is crazy that you got to see something like that. Here in the city of Charlotte you aren't allowed to chase either. A few months ago a guy tried to run from us (the cops) but we first got behind him in the cop car and followed and noticed that he was going in circles trying to lose us taking side streets with no stop signs and then a stop sign street came up and the guy went through it. On came the lights and he gassed it and tried to lose us. He turned the lights off and went through a intersection almost hit someone and a car sitting there in the intersection and then almost went through a front yard and into a house. We couldn't chase him anymore and he got away. Well he got caught a week later. People are starting to realize around here though that cops can't chase so they try to get away and a lot of times they do (for a while). Maybe that lady will learn a lesson, as harsh as it sounds and how bad it is that the baby died, maybe it will teach her a lesson and so will prison.

Just watched a news piece on this tragedy today. This lady is off of her rocker. She was going over 110 mph with the baby in the car, trying to get away from the police. Even when she crashed they had to subdue her as she was combative.

There are some really looney people out there, and their population seems to be increasing every day.:( :(

Out here we got Road Construction in every direction. The double and Dbbl Dbbl yellow lines mean Nothing anymore. If you wait and not cross them like I do, better look in the mirror because some idiot is always over them to get up to the light or around the traffic. Traffic fines doubled ? I had a guy riding my rear bumper of my 69 el Camino, he was in a MG with the top down. We got stopped at a red light, he was yelling and flipping me the bird. My el had a full bed liner with no tailgate cut out. It had about 8 inchs of rain water still left over from the nights rain. I lowered my air baggs and floored it when the light turned green, looked back to see a wave of water go over his windshield...............LOL he didn't follow me

Now that theres funny I don't care who ya are

Road Rage is nothing new, even before it was called that. I recall a time (about 40 years ago.....scary to admit it) when I was driving my Sunbeam Tiger through Toronto in rather heavy traffic on the 401. For those of you who don't know this car, it was a small British sports car with a small-block Ford V8) The highway was multi-laned, probably 3 or 4 lanes in each direction at that time.
I was driving in the left lane, passing a string of cars and trucks, and as I pulled along side a semi, he suddenly began to move over into my lane, squeezing me up against the guard-rails. I layed on the horn, assuming he had probably not seen me, but he kept moving over (even though trucks were not allowed in the far left lane.) Then, I looked up into his rear-view mirror and could see him watching me and roaring with laughter. The SOB thought this was funny! Only good brakes and a narrow car kept me from kissing the railing. I saw red!
Some very aggressive passing on the right put me back in the left lane ahead of him. As we approached a long incline, I started slowing down. Since the right lanes were still packed, he was forced to slow down, blasting his horn. I kept a close eye on him to make sure he didn't ram me while I slowed to about 10 mph. (This was before we got blessed with the metric system.:LOL: )
Then I waved at him and opened the little car up. When I topped the hill at well over 100 mph he was still wallowing throught the gears at the base of the incline. It felt really good but that was when I was young and impetuous....I doubt I would do the same today......but then, you never know.:LOL: :LOL:

Thanks Corvette64, wish I still had that ride today just the thought of splashing another tailgater gets me to giggle. Warpped sense of humor I guess.

It seems to be getting worse everywhere. I wanted to resurrect this thread along with FLH. It was just 5 years ago when I was tooling along the interstate just east of Springfield, Mo on my 7R. Yes....I use to ride the race bikes, but even at that time most people would concider me a conciderate rider. None of that lane splitting for me, or wheelies at 80 MPH. Did that enough when I was younger. Anyway....I learned a little trick from a fellow rider (60 year old Hog rider with lots of highway miles)....He suggested I carry a bag of ball bearings and explained that I should use them if I ever got into a situation that I didnt feel I could get out of. A guy in a beatiful new Z06 decided to take his days problems out on me, pulled up behind me, we're both cruising at 65, flashes his lights, so I pull over, he pulls over, I start to get off the bike not knowing what was going on, (daytime), he backs up spinning his tires. I know then this guy had a problem. I take off, getting up to 100+ with the guy on my tail, I back down on the throttle for fear of a serious ticket, (mind you there are people everwhere seeing this), he gets right on my back and rubs the bike. Scared the crap out of me! I reached for bag of bearings...and you know the rest. Makes a lot of noise! I will usually try to avoid confrontation. But, I'm definitely not beyond vigilate tactics when it comes to protecting my families welfare....which is me! Within a couple of weeks....I sold the bike. I decided I was better off behind 4 wheels and now carry my trusty Super Redhawk 454 Casull most everywhere. Even where I live, small town of about 11,000, we have to deal with the road ragers! What of the guy in the Z06?......he pulled off and decided he had enough! If I had reported this to the police nothing would have ever been done. Ive been down that road more than once and nothing was ever done. You could say "One wrong does not a right make", but tell that to my children if I'm dead. If it wasnt for my love of hot rods....i'd say....bring back the horse! LOL's!:LOL:

what these people with all this rage need is a hobby. like ours. then they can have a reason to cuss and flip things off when parts break or tools give way:whacked:
